What are your go to meals when cooking on a single burner?

I just did this for the first time a couple weeks ago (Walleye Wild Rice cakes) and it worked out so well that it will be a “go to meal” in a sleeper house every time for me. Not as complicated as you might think. I made them up the night before the trip and packed them in Tupperware with wax paper in between each cake. Maybe fry up some potatoes first and then when ready to cook, just drop in the skillet in a little oil or butter. Yum! yay

Here is the link to the recipe posted here on IDO

We usually do one sleeper house trip a year. Historically we have done venison meat balls, venison steaks, chili, potato soup, shore lunch etc. Really anything that is easy to premake at home and cook when you get out there.

Have a great recipe for venison meatloaf so I will make a couple up at home and have venison meatloaf sandwiches for lunch. Toasted Texas bread, pepper jack cheese, bacon with barbecue sauce. Bluegills tacos with wild rice is one of my favorite meals with guacamole, pineapple salsa and a squeeze of lime juice.

It can at times get out of control. But if there is one bonus it is by the end of the 3-4 days everyone’s bucket crap smells the same. We are off to lake of the woods next weekend for our trip this year.

Thought about that but…if your Marcum defeats my FL-8se, I may have to challenge your chicken wild rice soup against my Walleye Wild Rice soup! Ha…whose playing! We could even get the $$ out for this showdown!
Only time I worry about any volatile smells or “combustible releases” in the sleeper house is when I’ve spent the day sipping Summit Pale Ales and then cap it off with my “Famous Northwoods Venison Chili”. Those are the moments when better judgment tells me not to light the gas lamps! shock
