So I already have a skeg guard on my 125 mercury and I hit a log tonight and got it bent up a little. I straighten it out but one of the bolts did shear. Do you guys think it will be OK to run until I get a replacement?

Is it loose? How many bolts are still in it? Not sure which model you are running.

I’m sure running would be fine unless you think it is loose enough to that your protector will fall off. In which case you could remove the protector for now. I ripped my skeg down to a nub in 2010 mid week on a canada trip and ran all week. Steering pulled hard one way, but other than that use was fine. Had new skeg welded on; no worse for the wear. I am assuming you have this style of protector.

Ok thanks. Yeah it’s similar to that one in the pic, just a different brand. That’s a good idea to take it off. I haven’t actually seen how bad the original is as I bought it like that. It just has 1 and a half holding it on don’t really want to risk it hitting the prop if it falls off.
