I believe I read on heae somewhere that an F150 should be mounted in the 3rd hole on a WX 1880. I just got mine in the water this week and the bow rides pretty high at 2000-3000 rpms trimmed down all the way. My motor is mounted in the 2nd hole from the top. Will raising the motor to where it “should be” fix this? Is it a big job to raise the motor 1 hole? I only ask as the guy I bought the boat from as new in December is 3 1/2 hours away and i was considering having a local marina do it for me. Thanks. By the way I love my new boat so far! Even if it is a new 3 year old hold over!

I bought mine (2006 WX1880/F150) new at the 3rd hole down from top. I have since raised it all the way up. I run a 3 blade Merc Enertia 19P. I’ve tried several props at the third hole level – and then several more at the height it is now. Now is where it runs best and the Merc Enertia is a great prop (the one I stayed with). I don’t think you’ll find any better except for possibly the new Yamaha props. These were not made back in 2006/2007 so I never tried them. No matter what, if you get 50 GPS at 6000 RPM’s, you are at the top end of the 150 and will do no better with any setup. Light loads you may hit 52 GPS. My hole shot is great and so is mid-range. I also pull the kids with the tube and it works great for that too. I just used a floor jack to raise/lower mine. Two guys and it worked great. I/we have raised lowered many big motors this way and it works fine. Just do it slowly – and carefully.
