Jason, just starting singing for him. Even if you have twice my talent, the radio would be on very quickly.

I could envision a slightly different outcome. “Hey Jason, what’s that floating there on the water next to the boat?!”
Shouldn’t take much of a push once I’ve got him looking over the side.
June 23, 2009 at 5:23 pm #786062Hey James, sorry for the double post in your thread here but I’ve got a question.
How would you rate the maneuverability of this boat from the bow with the 101 terrova? Not necessarily talking dragging but for example wing-dam fishing in the current or positioning yourself around a current seem. Do you have enough power from the bow-mount to effectively keep your boat positioned without losing a lot of ground from river current? I guess my main question is with the overall size of the boat how well does the 101 keep up.
Pete

Or if you’d like to get in my boat and take a ride just give me a holler. We’ll meet at Everts and put her through the paces.
Better be careful what you say James there is a enough people on this site… We’ll just say that you could wear her out.
She sure is sweet
Anyone, anywhere… any time my friend. Anyone that wants to take this boat for a spin let me know and we’ll make it happen. It would be my pleasure. Plus I have full factory transferable warranties on the motors through 2015 so let’s SEE if we can wear it out.
That is too cool. I don’t know what to say, other than if anyone is in the market for a new boat you better call James.

July 2, 2009 at 2:04 pm #788076What are you towing it with and how does it handle behind the truck. I’m seriously considering a glass boat here in the next few years, while hopefully not upgrading my pull vehicle. I have a Chev 1500 5.3.
July 2, 2009 at 4:06 pm #788116Dry weight on the 1950 is 1,825 lbs so this boat is right in line with many tin boats. Fiberglass boats have come a long way with regards to weight so you might want to compare the weight of the glass boat you’re considering versus what you fish from now to see if there’s really that much of a jump in weight, if at all.
I’m towing it with a Silverado 2500HD w/Duramax. Towing with this truck is a dream but I might not be the best one to offer any insight on your question given the truck I’m using. Brad Juaire is towing the larger WX 2100 with a Toyota -sumthin-sumthin (Obviously I know nothing about the Toyota trucks) and he might be a good one to check with regarding what it takes to tow one of the larger Skeeter rigs using a gasser half ton truck.

I did a quick comparison of dry weights on various hulls across a couple different manufacturers and the weights are pretty close across the board from one boat to the next. In some instances the longer fiberglass boat is actually lighter than the comparable tin boat. What are you currently towing now?
Skeeter Boats – Dry Weight
WX2100 – 1,950
WX1950 – 1,825
WX1880 – 1,800
WX2000T – 1,800
WX1790T – 1,300
Lund Boats – Dry Weight
2025 Pro-V IFS – 2,000
2025 Pro-V SE – 1,900
2025 Pro-V Tiller – 1,890
1900 Pro-V IFS – 1,885
1900 Pro-V SE – 1,730
1800 Pro-V IFS – 1,620
1800 Pro-V SE – 1,560
Alumacraft Boats – Dry Weight
Tournament Sport 195 – 1,735
Tournament Sport 185 – 1,680

Thanks for the hand. For the life of me I couldn’t remember the name.

A canoe
I’m looking at the WX1880 with the 200 with the possible kicker. I do tow my buddies 18′ Warrior with a 115 & kicker. Don’t have too much trouble with that, except for when the deer jump out at you going 70mph coming back from October Full Moon.
Thanks for the comparison.

When you get your new rig you’ll see a drop in fuel economy while towing for sure.
Eric Rehburg has the 1880 and tows with a half ton chevy. Give him a holler. He’ll be able to provide the info you’re looking for.
July 2, 2009 at 8:14 pm #788175I tow my ZX225 with a 2008 1/2 Ton 4 Door Silverado that has the 5.3L. I can safely pass on the highway and comfortably tow. 60mph – 13mpg, 70mph – 12mpg I have the tandem trailer with all the goodies. (brakes, tuff kote and poly fenders)
The WX1880 weighs 1800 dry vs 1710 dry of my ZX, but with my extra fuel capacity, 36V troller and all the gear I carry I would say the weight would be about the same.
Of course a nice duramax with an allison to back it up would pull better… but.
Hey wife….
July 3, 2009 at 6:04 pm #788291I pull my 2050 with an ’06 Silverado 5.3 with no problem. 95% of the miles on it are towing miles.
James, have they got a rear casting deck add on yet? That was my biggest gripe when they came out with the new models. The rear deck in the 2050’s is huge and still allowed all 4 seats to be used, something no other glass boat did.
July 4, 2009 at 7:19 pm #788361No casting deck for me. Yet. But that is something I could definitely make use of. I’ll dig into that this coming week.
