Does anyone know if Yamaha is going to come out with the VTS feature on the 115? This sure would make the new 2000T a great set-up. After having the VTS on my 75 that is on the 1790T I don’t think I could be with out it. I don’t care about speed as much as the boat control of a tiller.

I just checked with Dan Meyer at Skeeter Boat Center. Yamaha is working on the VTS handle for the 115 4-stroke right now. Shouldn’t be too much longer for that, or for the F150 tiller with power steering.

Thanks for checking on this. Do I understand that the 150 will have the VTS too, or just the power steering?
February 8, 2011 at 5:56 pm #935142Anyone have any update on this? I spoke with Yamaha and they said there is no VTS for the 115 or 150 due to there being 4 throttle bodies on these engines vs one on the smaller engines.
February 8, 2011 at 11:05 pm #935264I will give donny at yamaha a call and see what he has to say. It will probably be next monday before I get back to you as we are headed to la crosse for a boat show starting tomorrow. If i get an answer before that I will be sure to let you know!!!
February 9, 2011 at 1:53 pm #935462That is great, looking forward to hearing something. I think the 2000T with a 115 with VTS would work great.
February 11, 2011 at 7:25 pm #936661I did get a hold of Donny at Yamaha. I was told at this point there isnt vts for the 115 or 150. He hasnt heard of any plans on it but said if there is something it will be showcased at the miami boat show, which I believe is next weekend.
If I hear anything from the show about it i will be sure to share the info!!February 14, 2011 at 2:49 pm #937292Bummer….would have been nice to have.
Thanks for looking into it!
February 15, 2011 at 3:17 pm #937699I was mainly just wanting to increase RPM’s a bit when using trolling bags, or decrease without bags down to around 2mph. It seems when going from just in gear (which is too slow with my current bags) to actually try to increase by 100-200 RPM’s (to get to my ideal speed) the throttle is very touchy and tough to dial in perfectly. Small adjustments are tough to achieve.
I just happen across this post from a search on Yamaha on this site. I am currently running a Crestliner Sportfish. Hopefully one day I will be running glass!

How slow are you looking to go while using the main motor?
I use my main motor from sitting still in a big wind to trolling cranks. The VTS works great to cast a shoreline in a big wind just by tapping the button. I am sure you could kick a bigger motor in and out of gear but after having VTS I would sure hate to be without it. Just don’t understand why Yamaha can’t do this on a 115 when Merc. can.
February 15, 2011 at 9:33 pm #937817While VTS is a great feature (I have it on a 60hp Yamaha) it isn’t a good enough reason to buy a Merc over Yamaha.
February 15, 2011 at 10:44 pm #937833The main reason as I understand it (for the 115 and 150) is that when turning the rpms down that far, the motor is not getting enough oil for the bearings and such. Will it run fine yes, but it will decrease the life of the motor over time if used a lot.
There are a few things that could make this a possibility, that I am still checking into but I have yet to get a confirmed answer on. So its not totally out of the question but at this point I have to say its not available.
Stay tuned for some updates shortly though!!
