Will the standard half ton 4×4 cut it as a towing vehicle for the WX1900 thru 2190 series? I’m pulling a pretty light weight 18′ aluminum on a single axle now, so just trying to gauge what to expect from the bigger rigs.

    Thanks!

Yessir! I towed around the 2190 a few times last year with my Dodge 1500. Is a little more fun hauling it around with the diesel but I had no issues. Tandem axle tows like a dream. I was getting about 11.5mpg pulling it from the cities to Mille Lacs.

Can you tow these boats? Yes.

I wouldn’t do a lot of it though. When I bought my WX2100 I had a Chevy 1/2 ton, after a couple of months I bought a 3/4 ton diesel. The diesel might be more than is needed but I sure enjoy it. I tow every week and now have a 2190, I can’t imagine towing and more importantly stopping with a half ton. If you are going to use a half ton make sure that you have the towing package and never pull in overdrive.

You’ll be fine…as long as you have a Ford.
