Anyone used a hydrofoil to improve planing speed?

My hydrofoil improved my time it takes to plane out, but didnt make much differnce on top speed.

SBC recommends it, I wanted to get a full season without it first before I decide to have 6 holes drilled in my cavitation plate…holeshot is more important than topspeed to me, so we’ll see…

We use them in a couple different scenarios. We use the “Edge Plate” that is made by cobra marine. Its a stainless one that works, fits and performs a little better than the plastic ones.

i got the Edge plate from SBC for my WX2000T with F150. it was very easy to install on my own.

it didn’t really impact planing time or top speed, but it helps me stay on plane at about 4-5mph slower speed. this is a really nice advantage for saving fuel on long runs by being able to run a tad slower.

I am interested in hole shot. What would be the better choice for that?

The boat is a MX 1825 with Yamaha F200. I currently turn a little over 6k at WOT and 55 mph with driver only, fairly light load, empty wells, 1500 elevation
