Transducer Mounting/Trailer Bunks

I recently purchased a 2002 ZX1950 (see post below) and am looking where the best place to place a transducer is. I haven’t 100% decided lowrance or birds, but either way I’m going to need to place a transducer. This boat has a small stepped transom and I’m not sure a transducer will fit. Also, the trailer bunks go about 2 inches past the transom, and it looks like a problem waiting to happen if the boat is not perfectly centered while launching. Anyone have any pictures for me to help with the installation? Thanks in advance.

First idea with out look at anything is peak the carpet back from the bunk and cut it 2 1/2 inches back.

Or move the winch post back a few inches (if possible).

Do you think moving it back 2 inches will make how the trailer rides a problem?

Hard to know without trying it. If your tongue weight is fairly heavy now, no biggie.

I looked the trailer bunk situation over last night and to correct the problem of the bunks sticking out, I would have to move the winch post towards the rear of the trailer 4 inches. If I move the winch post back 4 inches, will it cause a problem with trailering? Its a tandem axle trailer if that matters at all, and I did try to lift the tounge and it was pretty solid.

Typically the length of the bunks coincide with the placement of the jackpost. Either tha jack post has been moved previously (for some reason or another) or possibly the bunks have been replace (longer) ..

Id put your jack on a scale and see how much tongue weight your carrying. 4 inches seems like alot, but, its certainly possible it can move that far.

My SI transducers sit right to the bunks…. fairly tight..
