Brakes used on trailer with MX1825?

I don’t know much about trailer brakes so I thought I would ask. I’ve seen in the Skeeter specs that the single axle trailer comes standard with disc brakes. Are these electric or surge? My new truck has a built in trailer brake controller and wanted to know if it could be used with the Skeeter factory trailer that comes with the MX1825.

    Thanks!

Do the trailers have a pin to use when backing up to lock the cylinder or is that electronically controlled by tieing into the brake light line? Do the single axle trailers use a 4 or 5 plug harness?

All the trailers have what they call a brake lock out key that you can insert manually so the brakes wont engage. The override for the brakes is tied into the reverse lights of the truck so when backing up they wont engage.
All of the 2013 and older skeeter trailers are 5 pin flats, the 2014 and newer are 7 pin rounds.

hmm, I never had much luck with the 4 to 5 plug adapter they sell (where you tap into the brake light line) It worked for awhile then corroded from winter road salt..that insert plug worked great though…

Do I understand correctly from above that all trailers sold with Skeeter Boats have surge breaks vs. electric?

Yes, at least everyone that I have seen in the last 5 years. There is a few small bass boat models that don’t have any brakes though. None of them have electric brakes that I have seen.

Are you sure about this? I bought a new Skeeter WX2190 this time last year and it is wired 7 pin round. It is possible dealer rewired but I don’t think so and it may be a 2014 trailer, I will check it.

That is interesting. They may have ordered it special when they ordered the boat. I just know that all the 2013 boats that I saw last year all had the 5 pin flat.

Not sure how the harness is set up on the skeeter trailers, but on my Stratos, it is a 5 flat, and has a pig tail on it that goes from 5 flat to 7 round. The connection between the two is under the trailer tounge, and if you didn’t know it was there, you would think the trailer had a 7 round out of the box.
