    I’ve had this boat in the water 3 times now and it seems to take on water worse each time. Today was a flat calm day and the auto bilge pump came on once per hour. I didn’t run the live well pumps and the wells were empty.
    The hoses are fastened to the fittings with crimp type clamps. Anyone else have this problem with a new boat?

    new boat or new to you boat? if its under warranty take it to the dealer and have them check it out. If not under warranty, take it to a dealer and have them check it out if you can’t.

    Could be anything from a loose hose to a folded over o ring.
    One thing I have learned over the last couple years is the drain plugs are touchy. Make sure you tighten it to the point you almost think your going to break it. It takes a lot to seal that o ring on them.

    If that doesn’t solve it take it ito ur dealer. Im not sure where your located but would be glad to help if we can.

    This would be the first thing I would check. First time the invasive species checker dude didn’t see me put the plug in when I was solo up at Leech Lake, he decided to unscrew and verify there wasn’t water in my boat and then screw the plug back in. He told me he checked the plug and I didn’t think much of it. When on the water, every few minutes the bilge pump came on just as you described it and it was because the plug wasn’t screwed in tight.

    Never had an issue since.

    Also, I believe these plugs are the same other manufacturers use as well

    It’s quite ridiculous to have to tighten a drain plug that tight. The oring or rubber seal is going to get worn out if it’s that tight. Then you’ll really have a problem. I’d raise a little hell. Sounds like a poor drain plug design.

    My son tells me his new Ranger 520z uses a drain valve for the bilge rather than a plug. Don’t know if this a solution or potentially a different problem

    That is a good design until the cable breaks or you fish in cold weather and cant get it open or closed.

    That was a figure of speech. More so, when you think you have it tight give it just a little more. I have yet to see one of the O-rings on the drain plug wear out. Skeeter uses the same style drain plug as most other company’s do. Its a little harder o-ring than in the past and a semi tough spot to get to so it takes a little extra to get it good and tight.

    I’m not buyin’ the o-ring on the drain plug theory in this particular case. If we were talking about a little water, maybe. As I mentioned in my original post the auto bilge comes on about once per hour. That must be a gallon of water and maybe a little more. Even if the o-ring was gone, I would not expect the drain plug to leak that much.

    Not saying that it is the drain plug in this case but worth a check. I have had it happen a couple times where the auto bilge will come on about every half hour.

    Where abouts are you located? More than happy to help out if your close enough.

    Could be one of many things. If its not the drain plug I would look at the O-rings on some of the thru hull fittings next.

    Eric;
    Thanks for your input and concern but I am about 1500 miles away in Spokane WA. I think there is a new Skeeter dealer near here in Hayden Idaho. I’ll check with them tomorrow.

    Eric;
    WOW you guys are gooood!! I just spoke with a Shane or Shaun in the service dept and he told me what to check on the quick disconnect fittings and sure enough one of the o-rings was not seeded in the grove thus allowing water in. Also the red collars were not even slid down to lock the fitting together.
    I’m impressed!! and dry
    Thank you

    SBC to the rescue! We are lucky here in the Midwest to have a dealer that cares about everybody not just their own customers.
