Best rail mount rod holder?

Looking for a couple of simple rail mount rod holders, was looking at the Cabelas 360HT Quickdraw holders but some reviews mention they are tough to install and don’t stay tight to the rail. I know the trax type systems are probably best, but I don’t troll enough to warrant the cost and don’t want anything permanantly installed.

for the cabelas rail mount you have to take the rail apart to install them. what you need is the scotty rail mount for them they are cheap about 10-15 bucks and are compatable. I have 8 in my boat.

    Folbe!
I’ve used every other kind…and paying more for the Folbes at the start would actually have saved me money.

I have the Cabelas quick draws and the ram rod holders mounted on the rails. When I installed them I used a rough non slip tape on the rail and the clamped onto that. This kept them from rotating on the rail. I have been happy with both of these brands.

I thought of doing that as well, did you really have to take the rails off to install the mounts?

No I didn’t have to take the rails off. If I remember correctly I bought the ram rail mount cap which matched up with the Cabelas base. It is clamped on by 4 bolts. To put the tape on I just cut a piece an inch wide by roughly 4″ long and wrapped it on the rail. J used 2 of these pieces of tape per base and they are holding good. I will look for pics if you would like.
