I am possibly purchasing a 2012 MX 1825 with the 200 HPDI motor. I have been following many of the posts in regards to the boat and motor. Anyone with the 200 HPDI that could provide feedback on this motor would be appreciated.

I have a 2012 MX as well. I also have the 200 HPDI motor on it. I love this motor. Lots of power, overall great fuel economy for a 200hp. I ran it all year just fine. I have talked with several other people that either run them now, or have ran them in the past and they have absolutely loved this motor. I don’t think you will be upset after you purchase that boat. Along with the motor, you will absolutely love this boat. The whole package in general will be a great purchase! Good luck with what ever you decide. Just thought I would give you my 2 cents.

    P.S. Welcome to IDO!

we have the 200 on our 1880 and love it. Hole shot is amazing, which i am guessing would be very similar on the 1825 even though it is a different hull. I think you would be very happy with it.

Good Motors, not that great on fuel (or at least that I found). If you get it make sure to get the injectors cleaned and calibrated. Tons of info on Bass Boat Central in the Yamaha forum

Thanks for the feedback. I think this is will be my next boat. Did you put a kicker on your MX 1825 and if so did you go with remote or tiller? How does your 1825 handle the heavy stuff?. I fish Lac Seuel twice a year and have experienced a range of conditions that I was thankful for the deep sides of a Alumacraft Trophy.

Yes, I have a kicker on my boat. I would recommend one if you plan on doing a lot of trolling. Not quite sure what you mean by remote or tiller? The main motor wont get you down to the speed you are looking for. I think I can get down to 3.1 or maybe just below 3 if its calm out. As far as handling the big waves, this boat does pretty good. I wouldn’t consider buying this boat if I planned on fishing Lake of the Woods or very large bodies of water every day. But if you plan on fishing them on an occasion I would hesitate to buy this boat. Don’t get me wrong, this boat does handle some pretty good sized waves, and keeps you dry. We fished mille lacs last year with a 28 mph north wind for 12 hours and came off the lake dry. I am still very impressed with this boat and how it handles. It is perfect for my fishing needs.

I think he means is your tiller motor tied to the steering wheel of the main or are you sitting on the back deck and steering with the tiller handle.

I went with the tiller. I guess there is something that fails in the control box on the remote tillers and it did not come with a tiller handle from the dealer with the remote. I was more worried about emergency being able to get back in and after purchasing the tiller kicker I am very happy I did. a lot more versatile. you can add the digital throttle after and get a clip to attach to your steering for pretty cheap

That boat is real close to matching mine. Stripe colors are just reversed.
I have the F150 with 9.9 tiller kicker and tie bar.

How do you like your rig and what is your top end speed with the 150? Have you been to Canada with your boat? This will be my first glass boat after 30 years of aluminum boats and can not wait to finally have a rig that is set up for fishing instead of cruising.

Haven’t been to Canada but been to Rainy on the MN side. I had aluminum boats for 35 years. Last one was a ProV 1800. The ride is fantastic in glass. Could not beleive the differance. Stock prop,2 guys, full gear, full fuel, rear livewell full, perfect water tops out between 47 & 48 mph on GPS.

Have any of you put any larger mud flaps or bow bra on to protect the hull and if so what type did you use and have you been happy with your choice?

That is quite the garage. I am jealous. Nice steps and bra.
Where did you get the mesh material for the bra? Did you have a design that you followed? Was it difficult to make?

I had a shop in Sioux Falls make the cover for the boat bra panels. They are removable for wiping it down. Didnt really have any template or anything to follow, just kind of did it by the seat of my pants. The framework is 1/2″ stainless steel rod. They slide into the brackets that mount on the frame.

The reason I went with a rock guard/bra, is because I tow with several different vehicles that have different ride heights.

I would go without the bra befor Id go without the steps. If you launch alone alot, like I do, they are invaluable.

A buddy of mine has the 200 hpdi on his 1900 and loves it. His last boat had a 225 etec. I ran the 300 hpdi for a couple years and my dad ran a 250 for 6 years trouble free and my uncle has had it the last 3 years and no troubles. They are a very good motor.
