2014 MX 1825 changes from 2013 models?

Some great ideas on this thread.

    I’ve got a 2013 MX 1825 – the changes I’d like to see are:

Change the color of the courtesy lights. Turning on those blinding white LED’s at night kills your night vision and makes the lights pretty unusable.
Replace them with red and if possible, put some sort of dimmer switch on the dash.

The stern anchor light is WAY too tall. Not sure if it’s that way to meet some kind of code, but you could get away with one half that tall. It makes it really tricky for the guy fishing on the back casting deck at night.

I really loved using the boat this summer – it’s a great fishing boat.

I had them put on the boarding ladder and ski pylon. It works really well as a ski/wakeboard boat. Only complaint is the velcro they use to keep the boarding ladder secured is WAY too short and cheap. It lost it’s stickiness after 2 weeks. Simple fix by putting another one on it, but it shouldn’t have to be that way.

No regrets at all – just trying to improve an already great boat.

Could you post a picture of the ski pylon on the boat, and what stay’s attached to the boat when not in use? I’m considering this option, but can’t find a picture anywhere of what it would look like.

Here are some pics of the ski pylon and boarding ladder.

As far as the pylon – it’s simple to put it on and remove it – it stores easily in the front port storage compartment. 4 lynch pins connect it. The only things remaining attached to the boat are the screw in post hole and 2 small metal pieces in the far corners of the splash well. The rope attachment point swivels. It’s well designed and very sturdy.

The boarding ladder is permanently attached and folds in half when not in use. It’s a little skinny getting up the ladder and past the starboard pylon support beam, however it actually functions pretty well as a hand hold for the person getting out of the water.

    hope this helps,
    Brian

Totally agree that the rear anchor light is WAY too tall, almost snapped it off going under a bridge on it’s first boat ride!

I’ve also looked into Red led bulbs to replace the courtesy lights.

Have they improved the seal on the inside of what is supposed to be dry storage? The top lip on the top of the compartments does not touch the foam on the underside of the lid so moisture can easily leak over. When running the livewell the two side compartments end up with water standing in them.

They started adding extra foam to the livewell doors in 2013, no splash issues anymore.

One thing I’d like to see added is a rod storage system that can be used to throw your rods in when jumping from spot to spot. Also a storage tube for a net would be nice.

You can easily install retractable rod bungee straps to secure rods when in motion, the net storage tube can be installed in several spots where there is gunnel depth & room.

after owning a MX1825 since the start of the season (Love the boat), here are some changes I would like to see:

    1) Integrated bow Navigation lights (I’m guessing this will finally be standard on 2015 models)
    2) Shorter anchor light pole (seriously wtf were they thinking making it this tall?)
    3) Integrated measuring board near the livewell (Right now you can easily install one on the Port bow storage locker lid)
    4) Larger rear storage tubs, use all the space available (slotted for Plano 3600 boxes)
    5) Make the under console shelves an inch deeper (you can’t lay a throwable cushion flat on the current shelves)
    6) Move the battery charger plugin location (steering cables get caught on it when trimming motor up)
    7) Integrated storage compartments in the bow gunnels (like the 2190/2060)
    8) Recessed cell phone/junk area on top of consoles (like the WX1910 & 2060)

Can that new foam be installed on a 2012 model?

I believe Eric or Dean said it would be easier (and cheaper) to just go buy some foam, cut it to fit and glue it on yourself.

We have added a round rubber foam to the lip of the livewell that seems to take care of the issue. Its easy to install and looks clean!

I know there are retrofit answers to almost every option we can dream up, but those would be nice to come stock.

2 things to keep in mind when making options, stock. First thing is not everybody likes everything. What one person thinks is the greatest thing the next person will buy a different boat because of that. The second thing to keep in mind is that the more options that become stock the higher the base price of the boat goes. If there is 4 things that are stock that you wouldnt want on the boat and it increases the price of the boat by $1000 that means you are paying an extra $1000 for things you dont want or dont like. There is a fine line there and no matter what they do a base boat is never going to fit everybodys needs/wants.

With that said there is talk about adding some type of rod tie downs in the bow for running from spot to spot. Not sure what its going to entail at this point but there is talk about it.

I agree with you, plus it’s fun to figure out your own modifications and make the boat your own. I’ve looked into retractable rod tie downs at the bow, there didn’t seem to be enough room, I didn’t like the idea of the rods hanging way over the sides when secured.

Yea, not enough room even for 7 footers, unless you’ve got a 20′ boat. Guess I’ll look at installing some rod buckles.
