Speed at idle on MX1825 with Yamaha F150?

I’m curious how slow the boat will troll with the standard prop that comes with the F150 on the MX1825.

    Thanks!

Roughly 2.3 to 2.5 depending on conditions. I would strongly suggest that if your going to be trolling a lot to get a kicker or terrova. The extra hours on the motor will hurt the re-sale depending on how long you keep it. If its just going to be a couple trips a year and you can live with that speed I would say go for it!!

Thanks for the information Eric. 2.3-2.5 would be just right for pulling cranks. With my current setup, I don’t troll cranks a lot but will maybe do a once a year trip to LOW where I would. I’m just not sure I would need a kicker when I decide to buy my next boat (which is looking like an MX1825 at this time). Is there any option when building an MX1825 that would have the rigging there just in case I guy wanted to add a kicker down the road?

While were on this subject how slow will T9.9 kicker troll down to?

If you order a boat you could have it rigged with the control box and cables if you would be wanting a remote. Otherwise if its a tiller there wouldnt be anything to pre-rig. Either one can be added after the fact also.

.8 is about the slowest I have seen without dealing with much wind. 1 to 1.2 on dead calm is about average.

that is undoubtedly trolling forward. try back-trolling, likely will be 1.3 to 2.0 depending and how you trim up or down. Many times, (not always), boat control is better as well and not near as many lines getting accidentally caught in the prop Give it a try…

I have the optional 13 3\4 X 19 prop and mine trolls at 2.5-2.8 fully loaded.

I am getting the command link guages. Where you can control your rpm‘s between 500-1500 rpm.

Personally i like the command link option better than the kicker option.

I put a ton of hours on my old merc trolling, when i traded it the dealer could not believe how good it looked. Compression and all. If you stay on top of your maintenance and plan on keeping this one for awhile i would not put too much stock in resale value.

Because that boat is only worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it.

If you have a 150 on your boat save your money because that engine does not have the vts feature neither does the 115. only the new 2.8 liter engines have it. (sho 150 and the new f200)

Thanks I could not find much info. on this. So if you want the vts feature like I have on my 75 the only option is the new f200? The Sho is only for bass boats with the shorter transoms I understand?

I am getting the new F200XB with the command link, not installing a kicker.

Do you know how much the command link option is?

You would have to ask a dealer to be sure. I was quoted $1800 for the gauges. My boat is being replaced under factory warranty. My price for the gauge upgrade was $1k. The outboard cost me much more.

I am thinking at a dealer the optional F200XB and the command link is going to run you approximately $5k. Don’t quote me, I am not a dealer.

To me that 5k is worth it, versus a kicker, installation, tie arm bar, remote control (if your into that sort of thing), the extra weight hanging off the back of your boat… etc…

I trolled exclusively on my Merc when I had it, so much more convenient than dealing with the extra outboard.

Thanks for the information. Do you know how low of RPM the F200XB will go down to with these Command Gauges?

According to Yamaha’s website it says 650-900. I would think that anything under 650 could be achieved easily with the terrova on the bow. And now that the ipilot link is available they are much easier to keep on course.

It’s all about options and money. Good thing my wife likes the boat more than I do. Because it much easier to spend that money when she is onboard with what “we need”.

    Hi Guys,

Same question but for the VF150 (now that it comes in 25″) – on MX1825.

How slow would it troll down to with the VTS? I use my TM for walleye trolling, so this is for salmon.

Would there be a considerable difference in how slow the VF150 will troll when compared to the F200?

    Thanks,
    Mike

I just put this same set up on my new WX1850, don’t waste your money on the troll control. Wish my dealer would have done a little home work on the trolling option. This was a $400 option that does not help for slowing down. The motor still runs at 650rpms and you can only go up from there not down. So if you want to go faster great but not slower. Love the new SHO though!

    4 BUCK,

    Thanks for the heads-up.

What was your reason for going VF150 vs F200? was it cost or something else?

    thanks

WX1850 is only rated for a 150, so I decided on the SHO.
