I am in the new boat buying market and have it narrowed down to the Mx or Pro v. I know the Yamaha 200 four stroke is new and there isn’t much info on it, but does anybody have this set up? I’m looking at a boat at SBC and it had the hpdi on the back. I would like the four stoke but also would like to get more info on it first. Looking for hole shot and top end speed. Justin at SBC said there are still trying to find the right prop set up. Also I was told(not by SBC) to get the best performance a jack plate is needed. I have not heard of this at all. Any truth? Thanks

most of that has been covered here – http://www.idofishing.com/forum/showflat.php/Number/1261080/fpart/1/f150-vs-f200-all-the-questions-in-one-post
July 8, 2013 at 8:48 pm #1182209I have had a jack plate on my MX1825/200 hpdi last year & mx2025/300 this year. Perhaps up to 2 mph difference….maybe. The main reason I add it is for shallow back water running not for additional speed. In very rough water it might show some benefits there as well…but I wouldnt say it is a big difference maker in my experience.

I am pleasantly surprised on how well the fuel economy is. I thought for sure getting a 200 2 stroke motor was going to suck gas. The power this motor has is top notch. I just got 52mph with three full grown men in the boat with full livewells. The hole shot is very good too. The tournaments I have ran this year next to similar sized Lund boats with Mercury Verados have not been able to come close to keeping up. This boat runs fast and comes with a great ride. If you do plan on purchasing a Skeeter, talk to the boys at SBC. They won’t let you leave until you feel completely comfortable about your purchase. They know the inside and out of their boats. Good luck on your purchase!

If you’re looking for top speed why is the pro v still an option.
Not looking for the faster of the two boats. Just wondering about top speed of the MX.

What prop are you running?

I am running a Turbo1 17p.
What type of weight do you have in the boat? Where abouts do you have the majority of the weight, front or back? Full gas tank? kicker? How many people?
We have gone through about 6 props including that one, on the same boat that has a heavy load and havent found those results.
July 10, 2013 at 1:45 pm #1182566Eric,
I was in talking to Justin yesterday about the MX with the F200. He said Dean had gotten some testing from Yahmaha about the F200. Do you have the results of those tests? I am more than likely going to pull the trigger on the MX and want the four stroke instead of the HPDI. ThanksKempDPosts: 1August 3, 2013 at 3:07 pm #1187350Thought the 1825 was running about 50 mph with a stock 150 on it shouldnt the speed be a bit higher with the 200?
August 5, 2013 at 2:28 am #11875421825 with F150, 2 big guys, full R.livewell, ice and soda in F. livewell, full fuel, kicker, 3 Odysey bat., and a Full tackle load this morn. on perfect water was 46.7 mph.
tvfishermnPosts: 75September 5, 2013 at 10:58 pm #1193222I have tested speed again. This time three people empty rear live well. Front bait well full. Boat full of fishing gear. half of tank of gas. I now have a smll dinger on the skeg. Not sure if that makes a diference. Was able to hit 50 mph.
Zach HPosts: 374September 5, 2013 at 11:45 pm #1193234With all this talk about the 200 four stroke and the 200 HPDI, I would love to see 2 MX Skeeters lined up and watch the results. I would love to so how much the difference in hole shot and top end would be, or if any at all? Eric, have you guys done a comparison test like this of any kind? Is there a huge difference either way?
September 6, 2013 at 11:33 am #1193319In June there was a test between the new 200 hp 4-stroke and the HPDI on two wx1900’s. I believe it was done on in Green Bay.

September 6, 2013 at 12:30 pm #1193337We have not done that that im aware of. Would be a good test as long as they were rigged similar.
If or when we do I will let you know the results
