The front bulb on my 2050ZX keeps burning up, it does not fail completely, it juat burns the inside of the the glass
    bulb.
It causes the front lights to appear dimmed.

sounds like the bulb wattage is to hot. Like putting a 60W in a 40W receptacle. I thought all those bulbs were the same so when I bought a replacement, I had the same problem. Found a lower watt bulb, all is ok now….

Damm; finding a ground could prove difficult.

Don’t know the wiring schematics of your boat but it can’t be too difficult if you have easy access to the plug itself you should be able to put a fluke on it and check the resistance from the switch. Hopefully it is between them. If at all. I would imagine if it were between the switch and the main harness you would be tripping the breaker or the stern light would be doing the same thing.

Yep I was thinking the same thing, getting to the socket is easy enough, trying to trace the wiring back to the switch wil be the dificult part. They weren’t very carefull when they ran the wire harness through there.

Or….you can drop it off at my house and will take care of it for you and get your warranty rod too?

BTW ….a bad bow light sounds like the perfect excuse to trade boats ! J/K

OK I tested the front light socket which has two hot terminals and one ground.
#1 Terminal is testing out at just over 12 VDC,
#2 Terminal is testing out at just under 12 VDC

I am thinking that there is no problems there, the power switch seems to be operating fine.

I tried getting an OHM reading off of the light stand which seemed be shorting out, as I Could not get a steady read off of either terminal.

So I am leaning towards buying a new front light assembly.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If I pick up a new light can I run an LED on the front.

Sounds like the assembly to me. I don’t see why you could not run LED’s, if you use your lights a lot they make more sense, brighter, less battery draw etc..
