guess I don’t see it as being a big deal as long as a man gets out fishing who cares how or what he does it in!

Could you clarify? Why do you want his thoughts on you being a jerk?
Isn’t James getting a discount to fish out of his Skeeter MX 2025? I would think Skeeter would make that an exclusive deal if not shame on them and what a mistake.
Now I am confused. Are you asking me about an agreement between James and Skeeter?
Can’t help you. His/Their agreements are none of my business.
I’m sure this was a joint marketing venture between Rapala and Pro-staff. Maybe James is on Rapala’s pro staff and was told when and where to be. Maybe he was told all boats would be provided. Maybe Rapala wanted IDO’s participation with the web site. Maybe Rapala has a deal with Ranger.
In all cases it’s not our business. It’s between James & Skeeter. If Skeeter don’t care I certainly don’t care and neither should anybody else.
Well said Brian. I think James actually addressed this in another post. I believe he said Rapala told him all equipment would be provided, even the boat.
I don’t get why anyone would be upset about what boat James was fishing out of.

Agreed. I would like to think that people that spend $60-$80k on a boat are a little more savvy than that.
The whole concept behind the Scatter Rap Challenge was that Rapala would provide all gear, boats included. All I needed to bring was clothes on my back, sunglasses and my fishing knowledge. Everything else was provided in an effort to strip people of familiar gear and pull everyone out of their comfort zones while taking on Lake of the Woods with a single lure family.
And it worked. I know both Joel and I felt like lost puppies on day 1. Where’s the snaps?!
Of course fishing out of or being seen in a boat doesn’t imply endorsement of it. If you want to know which boat I think is a superior product you can ask me and I’ll tell you why and have firsthand experiences to back those opinions up.
During the course of a fishing season I’ll fish out of Skeeters, Lunds, Alumacrafts and even Rangers with the odd River Pro thrown into the mix.
Being able to spend 5 days in that boat was a wonderful opportunity to do some in-depth product research. The whole what I like, what I don’t like deal spread out over 5 days is firsthand experience that can’t be replicated with the shorter duration opportunities that have come my way during “official” on the water engineering meetings.
I did have my 2025 along on the trip and I greatly enjoyed giving Ranger owners on the trip a chance behind the wheel so they could get some firsthand experience with my Skeeter as well. I tell everyone, once you drive it, you’ll want one.
I’ve yet to be wrong.
PS – thanks for the question. I didn’t think you were being a jerk at all.
Thats great James. I am sure that you converted a couple of them. I know in my fish camp there is at least 1 that is selling his 3 year old 621vs to get a WX2190.
James if you wouldn’t mind..I would love to hear your thoughts/experiences on the differences between Skeeter and Ranger(or any boat manufacturer)
Personally I don’t care what James fishs out of. What I do like is his first hand knowledge about fishing, boats, tackle and presentations. For that trip I would have just about fished out of an innertube. I’m thinking it was a h–l of a good time.
I would also be interested in hearing your opinions about the 620 versus your MX.
