So I recently purchased a MX1825 and have noticed the radio they put in these boats are terrible! I cannot pick up a station to save my life. Then I went to see what it would take to connect sirius satellite radio since it says satellite radio ready. Come to find out the tuner that you need to get sirius radio is out of date and the new tuners aren’t compatible with the old hook up. Is there anyone that has had the same problem I am having? Is there a solution to the problem without having to replace the radio, or do I just replace it right away get something new?

It is hard to overhaul a piece of crap to begin with. I suggest getting something different.

Sounds more like an antenna issue. Check the conection.

The antenna is hooked up. I checked that first. I get stations every once in a while but more times than not I won’t be able to pick one up. I have done some research on these units and have found a lot of people are not pleased with them. Just going to have to upgrade to a better unit.

Try adding a power antenna to it and leave it tied up under the dash and you will get better reception.

Found a solution to a clear signal transfer from my iPod to my radio. Rather than using the Aux input jack that is mounted to the dash next to the radio I went a bought a RCA cable adapter so I can plug my aux cable into the black box underneath the consul. Plugged it into the red and white cables and its crystal clear now. Radio sounds good just have to figure out the antenna so I can tune in the Twins game.

Here are the pictures you are looking for. I am not a big radio junky so with a little research and trial and error and help from some guys on IDO I was able to find a solution. Hopefully these pictures are helpful to other people that have the same question I had. Good Luck

    Bighan:

I have a MX1825 with the same issues you are having. I pulled my radio down trying to trace out the issues and found it full of hydraulic fluid from the steering fill tube. When mine was built the steering fill tube was not cut to length and the hose clamps were left on loose. It dripped all over that radio and my main wiring harness where it plugs into the gauges harness.

That being said I ended up replacing the radio with the current black box solution from prospec electronics. The current version is the MBB-2020, and adds in bluetooth functionality but loses the satellite aspect.

The other two things I did was to get the updated remote for it which is the REM50B and a different antenna that draws from your power source.

Like yours my aux port was a waste of a hole in the dash, but I did not realize I had a bigger issue until one of the speakers stopped working. That is when I started to trace out the issue.

Good luck I hope you have less issues with your MX1825 than I have had with mine.

I don’t have any complaints about my boat. The radio was just a minor annoyance. Now that I got the radio figured out, is the best purchase I have ever made. I absolutely love this rig!

Love my boat too, I just think it was built on Jan 1st, and all the guys who built it were hung over.
