Picked up my new MX2025 from the Skeeter Boat Center in Chippewa Falls on my way to Green Bay. Deans crew had the boat water tested and ready to go. Their experience with fishing boats is unsurpassed in my opinion. I had total confidence that everything would work well and it did. The boat performed flawlessly in very less than ideal weather. The boat fished and handled in the wind and waves impressively. I was able to troll 1.2 to 1.7 mph into the waves with the kicker pulling crawler harnesses and hold my course real well due to the pronounced keel featured on this model. We took spray but never speared a wave. We also had to run 5 miles into a squall line to get back to the landing with winds gusting over 30 mph with waves building quickly. I was pleased to run in on plane but didn’t push it hard as the motor still needs to get broke in. We did not get wet (until it down poured). A very capable boat,…more boat than I ever thought I could afford,..I’m happy. javascript:void(0)
How was fishing? The bite had slowed down from its torrid pace a few weeks ago and are transitioning to summer spots according to the locals. We fished out of Bay Shore and got a limit Friday afternoon and 6 on a weather shortened morning. The drum were on the chew which kept us busy (and the bait store happy). We also tried L Michigan in our clunker Sea Ray,…it sucked with bait on the graph literally all the time. Its going to be a long summer if the bait doesn’t leave or get eaten up.
