I finally tested the WX2190 in Rough water!!

    Here is the “WATER REPORT”

Traveling directly into a 3-4 foot wave found the WX2190 handling very similar to my previous WX2100. The slightly higher bow than competing hulls ensured a dry ride and eliminated any fears of spearing a wave. Traveling 40 mph and higher delivered a smooth ride without any bow slap. The Reactive keel helped the boat hold a steady line and also seemed to have the boat suctioned to the water. Hard to explain, but didn’t seem to jump the waves.

While I was more than happy with a direct route into the waves, I wasn’t really dissatisfied with the WX2100.

Quartering a big wave my be the toughest water to handle for the boat operator. Unfortunately we aren’t always able to travel directly into or against rough water. While quartering the waves I noticed a big difference than what I was used to in my WX2100. The Reactive keel coupled with the removal of some of the breast section of the hull seemingly reduced those big waves making direct hits to the boat. Those are the shots that jar your spine. I am happy to report that I was able to increase my speed while quartering waves with a smooth, stable and DRY ride. WOW!!

This is HUGE and further separates the WX series from it’s competition when transporting in rough water!!

Lastly was the way the 22 feet of glass rode with the long rollers. Frankly there is no substitute for length here. The nearly 22 feet of span from transom to bow allowed me to catch the next wave on the top side instead of the bottom of the swell. Boaters need to understand that it is where you catch the waves with your front end that either delivers a smooth ride or requires a trip to the chiropractor. The WX2190 offers a simply dominate hull design for anglers who run fish in rough water.

Frankly I still look back with great respect for the WX2100 I ran. I spent close to 300 days in the open water arena in that office space. It treated me very well, and I wouldn’t have traded that ride for anything on the market………….Until today!!

These are my findings and experience. I suggest test driving this for yourself. There is nothing that replaces experiencing something firsthand.

The WX2190 pegged the “Wow Meter” for myself and customers.

Nice info Chris. This should be helpful for anyone thinking about a 2190. Of course an on the water test run is still the best way to find out for the guy spending the $$$$.

We Definitely need to get in that boat with Ya . With this boat are you running a 3 or 4 blade prop?

To add a question. How much,do you think, does the jack plate help in the conditions that you speak off?

Tough question really. It’s hard to know whether the increased performance is coming from the new hull design featured in the WX2190 or the add of a Jackplate. My guess would be a combination of the two.

    Chris is right on,

Fished today in 30+ mph winds and headed straight into it. This boat is awesome. I never thought it would would be that much better than the 2100, but it is.

The tracking with this new hull and keel is 2nd to none. I am sure glad that I traded UP.
