Skeeter Vs Ranger trade in value

Just got in an arguement with a fishing buddy. He said I should buy a ranger for 10g more because I will get it back next time I trade. I looked up my boat and a reata both being 6 years of and the Skeeter 1880 was worth 2g more and had 25 HP more. Just the facts for your Ranger “friends”.

Maybe the 2k more is due to the fact that you have a larger hp motor

The Reata, to most, is considered an entry level or family boat. “Fish n Ski”.

Not an apples to apples comparison.

Check the Angler and Fisherman series as well to be better informed.

IMHO the MX is “similar” to the Angler (1860)

And WX is “similar” to Fisherman. (618, 620,621)

Keep in mind Skeeter and Ranger are 2 totally different animals both with pros and cons.

When you finish debating Ranger vs Skeeter with you buddy move on to Ford vs Chevy and then Apples vs Oranges.

A boat’s only worth what someone is willing to pay. Book values are pretty worthless, IMHO.

And new boats… Price out a new Ranger 620 – Yikes! I could buy a small house for that price.

Depending on where you are, it could be two small houses. I know, I have been shopping for them. If you wanted just one house, you could get a REALLY NICE smaller home for the price of a 620.

Interesting, so some of us who happen to have went to college because we “belong in an office” are the reason that costs have went up?

I guess I was under the impression that costs have gone up across the board, and with bigger boats and motors, and new technology those costs go up. But if you think it’s because some people can afford those things and choose to buy them that you can’t have them, I guess we should all quit our jobs and live off the system.

There is nothing wrong with anybody who chooses not to work in an office or that does work in an office. Look at vehicle prices, they’re sky high as are used vehicle prices. Bottom line is, no matter who is buying these things, as long as somebody is, manufacturers will continue to build them and charge their prices.

That’s about the silliest response to a joke that I’ve ever seen, wimwuen. You do win the I’m-the-guy-who-takes-stuff-too-seriously award, though.

Ive been kicking around the idea of selling my boat and buying a smaller one.

I cant find any boats like mine for sale right now to compare prices.

    They must sell fast.

You are right, I have a 2005 that I still like very much so I keep a eye out for what they go for. The ones I see for sale don’t last long and seem to go for a high price. I guess that does make me feel good but I have no intentions of selling mine soon.
