Long story short looking to get a mx2025 next year or the year after for sure. What tolling motors do you guys run on them? Terrova 80? Or are you putting in a 36v system.

That’s a big heavy boat, I would think 101 lbs 36v would be optimal and sustain a full days use better than a 80 lb 24 v setup..

Funny you mentioned that. A couple weeks ago I put mine to the test. We have a 80lb terrova with odyssey batteries in it. I ran it 3 days in a row for roughly a total of 20 hours. Used it to move around and also for spot lock in the river so it was constantaly working. At the end of the trip it showed just under 75% battery life. I personally would have no issues staying with the 80lb as long as I had the odyssey batteries in there, otherwise go with the 101.

If you are planning on making many long trips that you need long battery life I would go with 36volts. If your not to worried about it you could go with a 24volt system to save a few bucks. Personally I would go more for the 36V, but I make frequent camp/fish trips up north where I don’t get to recharge everyday.

    Eric,

What size batteries are you running? Do you have the Odyssey batteries in stock in a 27?

    Thanks,

I have both sizes in stock of the odyssey the 31 and 34. The 34’s are similar to a 27 series and the 31’s are similar to a 31 series.

I ran an 80# on my 2100 with group 29 Interstates and could run for a couple days no problem. My dad also runs the 80 on his. You could use the 80 with a decent set of batteries!

Hi Francisco, I have the Odysseys installed on my 1825 with 80 Terrova.

This fall I night trolled Mille for 4 nights 6-8 hours a night, only using the trolling motor, never plugging the boat in. Still had over 50% battery life. I was going to try another night, I just couldn’t do it, didn’t want to mess up the fishing.

So far, super happy with the Odysseys. Granted the 1825 isn’t a 2025.

I should clarify that was 20 hours of RUN time not just time on the water. The trolling motor was in the water and running for roughly that amount of time

i think about two considerations that are different between the 80 lb and the 101 lb.
    a) 2 vs 3 batteries
    b) available power/thrust

battery life is relative to how hard you’re running. higher power = shorter life and vice versa, there’s no escaping that. but in real-world terms i’ve never noticed much difference between 2 or 3 batteries across the various boats i’ve owned. either way will last for a couple days under most conditions.

where i notice the big difference is the extra thrust, and more is, well, more. when you’re working along a rocky shoreline or reef with 3′ waves coming in, that extra thrust is very noticeable for controlling speed and when you need a burst to save your butt. for a relatively small difference in cost, it’s well worth it.

i’ve got a WX2000T, so it’s relatively close to the MX2025 in terms of size, weight, and profile. i’ve got a 101 lb with 3x 31-series batteries and i’ve been very, very happy.
