Yamaha has put together a pair of performance bulletins for the WX 2190 using two different props. FYI – These bulletins will be available on Yamaha’s website in a couple weeks.

    WX 2190 w/ F300 Outboard & 20″ Saltwater II Prop

    WX 2190 w/ F300 Outboard & 21″ Saltwater II Prop

Notes from Testing Engineer: “Both props ran well. The 21 was the fastest of the two by three tenths of a mile per hour. Although minimal improvement, the 20 was better in all other categories; faster acceleration, faster 0-30 mph, and better fuel economy. The 20 also runs a little more rpm’s (5800) which may help with the guy that runs a heavier load. On a side note the full throttle range on the F300 is 5000-6000 rpm’s so both propellers are in the upper ¼ which makes either acceptable. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.”

Impressive. From my experiences w/ Yamaha props, I would guess that the 21 Pro Series would perform very well on this rig. The 1/2 diameter should make a noticeable difference along with the better cupping on the leading edge and tip of the blades.

Thanks for the data James. I’m currently driving a Triton 18DV (center console) that has a Yamaha Saltwater 130 2 stroke on it and am eyeing the Skeeter Multispecies series for my next purchase. My boat and motor were purchased new by me in 1998, so it’s 15 years old. I had a trip last summer where I’d be doing a bit of long distance running so I checked my fuel efficiency. Daily runs were about 60 miles per day and I got an average of 3.4MPG running at about 38-40 MPH (a few MPH below max for my boat). Interesting that with a much larger boat and a much larger motor the 2190 with F300 has very similar efficiency at the same speeds as my much smaller boat / motor combination. Gotta LOVE how far technology has taken us!…. wow, gas costs “could” be the same with a new boat upgrade… NOT! I’m sure there is no way I could temper my enthusiasm to not want to max out the speed of the F300 “now and then”.
