So I’m thinking about making the switch from a Skeeter ZX225 to a MX1825, but i’m worried the Dual Console MX1825 will be too small and I already know the 2025 is too big for my needs. For those MX1825 Dual Console owners out there, how has the boat held up in terms of storage and overall room to fish? Do you have any regrets? Should I hold out for the inevitable release of a MX1925 in the next year or two?

Plenty of room for 3 guys at ranging from 300 to 200lbs. Storage is great with room for everything! I don’t have a ton of gear, but am not worried about running out of room. All 3 guys fished behind the windshield on one of those “hunker down” kind of days and fished comfortably. I was worried about the dual console cutting down space, but actually, the second console provides a lot of additional storage andyou really don’t notice its there until the weather turns cold and nasty. Which is when you’re glad you went with it.
The only time I lost confidence in this rig was out on Mille Lacs In 4-5′ rollers. Got some water to come over the bow when trying to navigate into the waves. The old man was puking, I thought my new boat was going to sink, and the brother in law was shouting “FASTER!”. I looked at the Lund S16 next to us with the 70 year old married couple in it and found my sack and punched it.March 15, 2013 at 3:03 pm #1152343I love my MX1825. More stoage than my 1800 Pro V had and rides dryer and smoother than the Lund also. It probably depends on what kind of fishing you do but we can fish 3 big guys with no trouble for eyes, smallies, and panfish. If you are hucking Musky baits I don’t know Because I don’t fish them. My wife likes that is smoother riding but that is all she cares about. 4 footers on Petenwell are no problem you just have to match the right speed for the waves. I wished I would have waited a year for the 2025 because I now have a place that it would fit to store it. The boat doesn’t sit outside unless I am at weekend place or on a trip. Get a hold of SBC and a couple of guys and throw one in the water.
March 15, 2013 at 3:47 pm #1152368great replies, I’m heading over to SBC in April to test drive one..
Question – I know the MX2025 has the option for an extended rear casting deck, is it possible to make your own for the MX1825? Does it have enough room for one?
March 15, 2013 at 4:04 pm #1152384The casting deck that’s on it is fairly substantial as is, but if you wanted to add to it you certainly could. The only trouble I would forsee is the extention covering up the access door for the in floor battery compartment and the side storage. Maybe SBC could offer up some measurements of the livewell to storage compartments.
March 15, 2013 at 4:57 pm #1152406I would make it removable, just curious of the space, I found some good online pics of the MX1825 floor, there’s room for one, it would just have to be angled a bit to match up the with angled livewell wall..

Really doubt that you will feel the need to extend the rear deck. Lots of room as is. But certainly possible. Side storage would be blocked though.

The fact that the boat and F150 were optimized was a big seller for me. I burned less than a half tank of fuel over my 10hour break in, I would have burned 4 times as much running the 250HO for 10 hours.
I feel like I have more room in the cockpit, and find myself fishing more from the driver’s seat. I definitely notice the much smaller bow area, but the storage is similar. The short center rod locker length is the biggest negative for me so far, mitigated somewhat by the rod holster side storage. The rear casting area worked well on the few brief musky trips I was on. You should try it before spending cash on an add-on step.
It is clear that there was a lot of thought put into designing this boat for fishermen.
DJSS50Posts: 38March 16, 2013 at 9:53 pm #1152779I have one full season in my new MX1825 under my belt. My previous boat was a 2002 Lund Angler 1700ss. That boat had a tremendous layout for muskie fishing in terms of front and rear casting decks and live well size.
Now on to my impressions of the MX 1825, the first thing I noticed coming form aluminum is the tremendous foot that the Skeeter has in the water. No getting blown all over creation on windy days. I confess to constantly watching the forecast for wind direction and speed when I owned the Lund. I don’t even consider the wind anymore. That means more hours fishing and more fish in the boat. The second best aspect of the 1825 is the cockpit space, there is a ton of it. Multiple tackle boxes and coolers all over the place that never get in the way. I laugh when I hear people debating from casting deck space. Who stands anywhere but right up against the bow of the boat? Why do I need a basketball court behind the small area in the front where I fish? Finally and most obviously, the ride in big waves will have your back thanking you for years to come. I am not afraid to admit a mistake or call out a terrible product purchase I have made. The MX 1825 is the best fishing tool I have ever owned, period.March 18, 2013 at 12:35 pm #1153216Do you guys have Dual or Single consoles? I’m curious how the 18′ boat works with dual consoles in terms of people space? I would never get a DC bassboat that’s less than 20′
March 21, 2013 at 4:32 pm #1154713Hey – late to reply here, been way too busy
I have the 1825 with Full Windshield.
Absolutely love the boat. Zero regrets.
The storage is phenomenal In fact, I still need to go out any buy more gearI was able to fish a couple different times with 4 big guys and it was more than comfortable. Also for the first time I got to take my entire family (wife, 2 kids and my brother) out for a fishing trip (old boat was too small). Plenty of room, even with kids roaming around. The wife even had plenty of room to sun tan on the bow
I have zero complaints about the boat thus far after one season of use and would definitely recommend it. I can’t say I ever had it on crazy rough water, but I did make a half dozen trips to Mille Lacs last year and it was great.
