Lowrance Structure Scan on WX1900

Anyone have any suggestions on the ideal location to mount a Lowrance LSS2 transducer on a 2011 WX 1900? The 1900 has the straight transom (no step). I have seen some examples of the Bird’s transducers mounted part way up the back of the transom. Lowrance recommends on the jack plate (don’t have one), step (don’t have one) or transom. Just like some assurance from someone that’s done it, before I start drilling holes. I’ve used transducer boards on other boats and might plan the same with this one. Photos as examples would be great. Thanks for any help.

These are a couple of pictures of a LSS1 that we just installed on a wx1900. That has been pretty much the common spot for us.

Thank you, Eric. That appears to be about the same location I’ve seen for the Hummingbirds, too. Any feedback on the LSS 1 operation in that location, re: how far the motor needs to be tilted up to get a good picture? On my last boat (Lund) I had to trim the motor up a bit to get a good read, but the LSS1 was almost flush-mounted near the bottom of the transom. That’s not a real good option on the 1900 since the bunks stick out a few inches. Just curious on the LSS 1 being higher up on the transom. Thanks for the advice!

Generally speaking I like to have the motor trimmed all the way up. That would be right where the motor switches from trimming to tilting. You can still run about 5mph like that and not have any bow lift.
