I picked up a new mx1825 a few weeks ago from Dean and the crew at SBC and until this weekend I only had her out a few times for part of the break in period. Last fall I got hooked on the 1825 after fishing out of Dustin Stewart’s mx. fishing out of someone elses boat is always different than running it yourself. So this past year, I was able to jump in a few different models as a passenger or was lucky enough to be able to take a few for a spin myself. I always fell back to the 1825. Stewart’s was the only 1825 that I was in with a 200hpdi. The boats I drove myself all had the 150’s with no kicker. Being that I was going to have a kicker, frequently have 4 people, and a full livewell I opted for the 200. This weekend I spent Friday and Saturday down on pool 4 with 3 others in the boat for the first time. I assumed we were going to have to revert to vertical jigging but with the layout of this boat, we were able to execute pitching wing dams and rip rap shorelines pretty well with proper positioning. And this was with 3 people that had never pitched before! Getting and keeping this boat in position with a 15+ MPH wind blowing upstream was much easier than I expected. The wind simply does not affect this boat anywhere close to what I had been used to with my previous boat.
With 4 people, full gear, full livewell and baitwell she still jumped on plane quickly and looks like she will still hold at 50MPH with this load. I didn’t really push it too hard as I am at the tail end of the break in period still and backed off the throttle before getting her trimmed properly so the true top end with this type of load is still to be determined but I was very impressed and so were my passengers!
Thanks to Skeeter and the folks involved with designing this boat!
