I need a few suggestions on this two models, WX 1850/1900 and mx1825. I fish the river lakes of the missouri, Oahe, sharpe and francis case which are big lakes that have aveage winds in access of 15 mph, usually 1 1/2 to 2 foot waves with waves 3 to 6 feet not uncommon , 50 percent of the time. The other 50 percent is small impoundments. I’ve test drove a 1900 and a 1825 unfortunally it was clam day on a small lake so could not compare as good as I would liked. Planning on buying this spring so will not have a chance to ride agian. My concern is how well the 1825 can handle and ride quility on rough water, I’ve seen poeple fishing skeeters here in South Dakota and hopeing I can get some input form them and form others that fish big waters in thier areas. I like the size and storeage of the 1825 but I’m unsure on rough water capibilties. Any opions would be nice.

I have heard the mx does pretty well in rough water but I would have to say the 1900 is gonna be better for your bodies of water.
I am sure Dean will chime in as he has been in both of these boats!
November 14, 2012 at 10:29 pm #1112141Get a hold of Dean out at Skeeter Boat Center. I know Dean has been on big water in both boats and would be able to help get you into a boat that best suits your fishing needs
November 14, 2012 at 10:46 pm #1112148What is your primary species & how do you fish ? What boat do you fish out of now?
In general, the WX will be a softer ride than the MX on rough water. The Mx will do big water, but you will find that you drive it differently than the WX and slower as well.
Both boats will work, but the answer to my questions will help to advise you a bit better. From what I am perceiving your use to be,it sounds like you are more of a WX candidate.
November 15, 2012 at 1:15 am #1112181I fish everything form trout to panfish salmon and especially walleye. I drift lindys, bottmboucers, pitch jigs and even pull plugs if nothing else is working. There is not many styles i don’t use. I have a 1850 crestliner sportfish with a f150(like that motor) and 9.9 prokicker, tervia i pilot.
November 15, 2012 at 2:36 pm #1112356Based on your useage I really believe the WX fits your application overall a bit better than the MX. Either however, will be a upgrade in ride quality over the aluminum ride in that size range. Feel free to give a shout to visit specifics further if you like!

I decided to go with the 1900 and couldn’t be happier. I went with the 200 HPDI and get good speed and a great rine in the rough stuff. With the 9.9 kicker and a terova 101 the fish ability is the best I’ve ever owned. And I was an old Ranger guy. I think the wx1900 is the best fit for what you described. I fish walleye and salmon and this boat ROCKS! Good luck and have fun in the new skeeter.
November 15, 2012 at 11:48 pm #1112540I like the design of the 1825 but, I think Dean and Gasmen are right the wx 1900 would fit better thanks for the advice. Now to find the money.
law651Posts: 16November 16, 2012 at 2:08 am #1112580I own a mx 1825 the boat great. I never thought it would handle big water and it does very well. Yes its slower than the 1900. The 1900 is better with bigger waves. But its not as much as you think. But where the 1825 takes over is the fishability. This boat tracs like its on rails. If just fishes awesome. I think you need another ride and drive when its rough out. The 1825 will supprise you with how it handles the rough stuff.
November 20, 2012 at 12:37 pm #1113531I have drove both and own a 1900. I can say that for the windy days on the Missouri I would prefer the 1900. Smaller rivers and lakes the handling of the 1825mx is a great boat. Both would work great for you. The bigger water I would lean towards a wx 1900. Dean is a great resource!
November 29, 2012 at 1:36 am #1115842I fish the same waters of the River in South Dakota. I own a MX1825. It is set up amazing for walleye fishing out there. On the windy days, however, I absolutely get pounded. If I did it again I would get either 20ftMX or WX. Love the boat when there arnt rollers out there .
