Trailer Modification for steep ramps

I’m thinking about adding a cross member and roller up front on my trailer to avoid ripping off the Terrova unloading and to get the bow up high enough when loading on steep ramps. I have a WX1850. I talked to the trailer Mfg. and they have added a third cross member and extended the bunks as a new design on some of their units. Has anyone done this as a modification? If so, who did the work and how did it pan out?

Skeeter made a new mount for the Terrovas that completely solves this issue. Call Skeeter Boat Center… ask for Dean. He’ll get one on order for you and you won’t have to mod your trailer in any way.

Many of us have the same problem and release and move the trolling motor a few inches out of the way when launching. Would seem to be a lot less messing around rather than modifying the trailer.

Also, Dean Marshall had a post about the new Skeeters and a custom mounting plate that slid the trolling motor back a few inches out of the way when launching.

    Just a couple of thoughts…

Skeeter Boat Center had the slide mounts on hand when I was in there a couple weeks ago and looked at the one on the MX2025 before James rolled away with it. Looks like a good concept and slides back and fourth real easy with the pull of a spring loaded pin. But a wrench is required if you actually want to remove the motor from the boat.

There are two options other than modifying the trailer. Like mentioned you can use the new slide bracket or you can also get longer bunks. We have done both and both seem to solve the issue. A lot less work than modifying the trailer.
