Ive had her since May, and havent found the time to put her in the water….. till tonight.. Wowsa.. A couple beauties, me thinks..

Not real happy with the performance of my SI installation. Seems to be a ton of “turbulance” in the back.. SI drops out about 5 mph and gets fuzzy at about 4, and I’m not happy about that at all. Anybody have any ideas how to set the transducer on the step? Im using a left and right installation, with 2d shooting thru the hull.. Looking for recommendations, or pictures of a HDSI on an 1850 hull. Thanks

    1197 on bow.

    997 on dash..

Anybody have their HDSI down on the hull bottom?

Beautiful looking boat. About time you get out and enjoy.

    Reddog,

It appears to me that the transducer is mounted on the set-back and not down on the bottom of the hull. That is why you are losing your reading at any speed. Try moving it down to the bottom “step”.

I put them on the set back, because that is what I have been reading was the thing to do to protect them, and and keep them out of harms way, but I am not happy with their performance, compared to my 1750 Crestliner. I would like to move them down to the bottom step, but the only place there appears to be adequate room is moving the drain plug and putting it in the center. I worry about affecting the water to the motor if I put it in the center.. There is almost enough room just inside of the outside bunks, but it will take some modification to the HDSI bracket in order to get it high enough, so its not plowing thru the water..

I was wondering if anyone had an HDSI installed on an 1850 down on the lowest part of the hull to look at , before I make the change..

Reddog, Beautiful rig. I installed my 998 this year on my Skeeter 1790, and I put it above the step like you to protect it, as I had my thru hull ducer for my 2D. Long story short, there was nothing I could do when it was above the step to get satisfactory results. I ended up moving it to the bottom step(tight fit) so that the HDSI ducer is below the transom line, and it made all the difference. Didn’t want to do it that way, but I wasn’t going to settle for a crappy image, with what I spent on it. Hope it works out for you, as you’ve been very helpful to allot of people with these units here and on WC….Dan

Dan, I bit the bullet and moved them down late this afternoon.. Night and day difference.. I stayed with the left and right units, and am really liking what I seen tonight.. (just got off the lake ((12:30 am)) after 4 1/2 hours of search and rescue for a drowning victim. Gotta get too bed and at it in the morning..) Havent gone wide open yet but I seen bottom on SI at 36 tonight!, cuz Ive had the wife with me on both trips, and she dont allow that in her boat.. What a way to break in the boat.. Youre right, its a tight fit, but as far as Im concerned, its the only way to go..

Opening weekend for me last week.. Things went well. Limit of roosters and walleyes!

I’m really happy with my Humminbird transducer installation. It is working flawlessly at high speed! If it works at high speed, you know its gonna be good at scanning speed..
