Installing foot pedal tray

Hi Fellas, new member here and this looks like a great site.

I have a 2008 WX1880 and am thinking of installing a recessed foot tray in the front deck to hold the foot pedal for my Fortrex bow mount motor.

I need to cut a section out of the front deck to insert the tray, approximatly 9″ X 18″ but it will sit between the front and rear cross member supports, plus there’s the side walls of the rod locker on either side. I think there will still be plenty of support for the deck on all 4 sides.

It won’t drop too far down into the locker and there should be plenty of clearance for my rods.

I’ll move the front seat base back a bit and install it on the rod locker lid.

I’m just curious if anyone has done this and did you encounter any problems with support or are there any other concerns I should have.

    Appreciate any and all thoughts.

I would not be sitting on the rod locker lid you would be asking for trouble . Also have you thought about what to do with a hole from the seat base mount if and when you move the seatmount. I think you are playing with fire here.

When I cut the hole for the tray, it would include the spot where the seat base is located, therefore it wouldn’t be a problem.

Not sure why there would be a concern with the butt seat sitting on the locker lid though as that’s a normal place to stand and seems very strong to me.

I’ve decided not to go through with this installation.

    Thanks for reading.
