Skeeter MX 1825 owners

I am strongly considering getting a new MX 1825. I was very close to getting one this off season. Instead I got another Alumacraft and I am really regretting my choice. I only got to fish my Alumacraft Competitor 185 for 5 days and now it is back in St Peter.

I have seen a lot of awesome reviews on this boat. I have got the chance to sit in one when I went out and spoke with Dean at SBC. Dean’s customer service was top notch, he even stayed late to make sure I got all my questions answered.

I would like to hear what MX owners like and dislike about the boat. Has anyone got caught out in some less then favorable conditions, how did the MX handle? Also if anyone knows the difference in performance between the 150 four stroke and the 200hpdi I would love to hear your input.

i dont own one i run a 620t but i fished the mtt on milacs w dean out of his mx in lets just say sunday morning when we got to our spot on the south end he looked at me and said “you got to be kidding me” 4-6 ft waves

This boat tracks with the kicker like its on rails every bit as good as my old 690t and way better then my 620t just turn the kicker and thats whitch way you are going very very inpressed to say the least. Boat controle was not a problem. we took a few over the bow while fishing and the back but not a big deal in those conditions better then my 620t agian very inpressed.

as for ride out with the wind we took it easy dident pound it hard went good the ride back into the wind was slow but ok considering we had a 25+mph noth wind and we were on south end of millacs. not going to be a good ride in any boat i have rode in the ranger dose ride better but the skeeter fishes better. dont think you will be dissipointed with it for sure not the tracking when trolling.

sry photo is crooked it was rough

Sounds like alumacraft has went downhill like lund since they got corporate owned.I just cant figure out why we pay a ceo of a company millions to take away quality and benefits from everyone and eventually destroy everything

I will let the other comment on the performance and likes and dislikes but there is a few differences in the motors.

Keep in mind these are all general numbers based on a dual console with a windsheild.

    150 will do about 54, 200 will do 56-58.
Hole shot is slightly better with the 200.
150 is slightly better on fuel at crusing speeds
Oil consumption on 200 is quite minimal from my experiences
Price difference to upgrade is not a huge step to go up to the 200.

Depending on your expectations and what you plan on doing with the boat will make the decision on which motor to go with.

Tournament fishing, 3 or more people a lot of the time, want the extra speed I would go with the 200.

Pleasure fishing, usually 2 guys or less, usually stay under full throttle, the 150 will treat you well.

I have only had a handful of people say they wish they went with one motor over the other, and its gone both ways. So with that said I dont think you can go wrong, just a matter of choosing which motor best fits your needs.

Any other questions feel free to call or let me know and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can!!

While it is there make sure they put the correct fuel tank into your boat. If it was a 2012 built after the first of the year you had the wrong fuel system installed.

I picked up my MX 1825 in April.
    Love it!
I have the 150 4-stroke. Didn’t feel I needed to upgrade to the 200. Felt the 150 was pretty bulletproof from what I hear and like the idea of having that motor. (not that the 200 is bad, no experience with it)
I also didn’t feel the need to gain a couple more MPH….when I doubt I’ll be running full out that often.

What I like about the boat: The space, storage, fishability. Absolutely love it.
Granted I am coming from a 1994 16 foot boat….so any purchase would have been considerably “bigger and more spacious”.

I think the boat is truly multispecies. I haven’t been out a ton yet, but you can comfortably fish many different styles and applications in this boat. Love the rear casting deck.
Love the storage & rod storage. Let’s just say I need to buy some more gear to fill it up

Did have the boat on Mille Lacs last Saturday. IN the early AM it was relatively calm, but then in what seemed like a minutes time…the rain came along with fierce winds. I felt very comfortable in the boat, and simply added some drift socks and kept on catching fish!!

    Boat has a great ride.
Overall I am completely satisfied with my decision to purchase this boat, and would easily do so again!

I made this purchase for the long haul, so I wanted to get it right…and I feel that I have done that.

    Can’t wait to fish more!

I would think the WX would ride better then the MX due to sitting farther forward in the MX?

I have not been in a MX in the rough stuff yet but I can tell you the WX runs very comfortable in legitimate 2′ chop at 46 MPH.

Tony K – Thanks for the big water report that was exactly the info I was looking for!! I plan on using the boat on big water 90% of the time, other 10% will be on P4.

Gill-Eye – I think you hit the nail on the head.. I was advised I should be getting some answers from alumacraft tomorrow. I am hoping they they do the right thing…

Eric – Thanks for the detailed performance reports. I have been leaning towards the 150.. I had one on my new alumacraft and loved it. I have been kicking the idea around of getting into some tournaments. I am also strongly thinking about getting a 9.9 kicker on the back. If i could get 50+mph out of a 150 I would be happy.

Kroger3 – Thanks for the heads up, I told them to put one in. I was not to happy when I found out the hard way that the fuel tank was not as big as advertised!

Doubleshot – Glad to hear you like the boat. I think I am in the same boat with you on the 150 vs 200.

4 Buck – Great question I would love to hear an answer on it also!

FYI was told yesterday (5-31) by customer service at Alumacraft that the new and correct fuel tanks will not be available now until at best the end of June…

I got my MX this spring with the 150 on it. I had one on my Lund 1800PV and loved it. With all my gear and 2 guys and there assortment of tackle went to Rainy last week. Top end was 47.4 on glass water on the GPS. 2 guys and I can get 49+. It is a little slow on hole shot but haven’t tryed any different props yet. Have had it in 3 to 3and half foot waves on Pete. Ride is ex. and very dry at about 28 to 30mph. It is 500 lbs. heavier than my Lund since I added a kicker but that speed is all the Lund would do. There a couple of little things I wish Skeeter would change. If you would like to talk give me a call at 563-543-0966.
