    1790T Winter Project
There has been discussion on past post about some of the 1790T dislikes – Fuse Panel, Electronics Compartment, Rod Tubes. I purchased my 1790T new last year 2011 , fished a lot over the summer on pool 4 and Mille Lacs and love this boat. Over the winter I made some mods that I thought I would share.

    • Fuse Panel — Removed the round access cover, cut a square opening and add a access door made from SEA BOARD.
    • Electronics Compartment — Many have complained that it’s useless being in the wrong place and not watertight when closed. I removed the steel inter box , added some carpet, added a watertight door (SEA BOARD) with a lock. With this you will get twice space and it will be dry.
    • Added rod tubes
    • Starting Battery Location – Battery was installed in the center off the compartment. I just relocated it ¾ of the way under the splash well and know have more dry storage.

I know some will say you should not have to make changes when you pay so much for a boat and I agree, but I have had many boats over the years and have yet to find one that’s perfect.

Nice work! I agree, no such thing as a “perfect” boat and what would the fun be anyway if you couldn’t tweak and make it “yours.”!

Where did you get the rod tube set up, BTW?

I’ve never owned a boat I didn’t customize to one degree or another. Like you said… make it yours. And all the additions look good. Except for the rod tubes. I’d pay to have them removed if the Skeeters came with them but again that’s personal preference.

    Awesome looking work.

I made it from plywood and used golf tubes. Works for my walleye rods. For larger trolling rods I use the two side pockets on the 1790T

You didn’t include any pictures of the microwave or coffee maker?

I would but can’t find a 3-5 mile ship to shore power cord yet.

Great job on the upgrades. I find it odd that you worked to put rod tubes in when so many guys (myself included) go out of our way to avoid them or remove them.

Like James said. All personal preference.
