The “Skeeter” shine

With the sudden retreat of “Old Man Winter” how can a guy possibly keep from remembering the brilliant shine of that Skeeter parked in your drive.

Early season organizing of new tackle and re-charging of batteries mark the start of insanity for many. Soon the open water season of 2012 will be upon us! Live it………..IN STYLE!!

The snowmobile trailer will soon be replaced with a Skeeter trailer. I’d bet I’m fishing with YOU on Rainy River inside the next two weeks.

Don’t get me wrong boys; I’d prefer to be Dropping the Marcum Puck over big slabs into the first week of April. Still if “Old Man Winter” wimps out……….An April “Skeet Retreat” doesn’t sound half bad.

As to the timing of the RRR (Rainy River Run)I just can’t say. Predicting weather has proven tough enough. The many variables in feeder creeks and run off have made this particular bite quite difficult to forecast for many years. I do however wager the sights of bent long rods will soon be commonplace on the river that seperates stripes and syrup.

We still do have some snow on the ice. This snow at the moment is hindering a massive ice melt off. The end of this week will unfortunately remove winters blanket. Still……Plenty of ice up here. Hoping for 2 weeks of Ice madness!!

If you guys get on the Rainy, are you going to feed us a little post after your trip? I’m going this year, but not till Mon. the 9th. Could be an early spring on the river.

I’m sure many beyond those here in this post will be happy to spread the joy on IDO!! My hopes…….Little and Big Fork break loose and wash through the system allowing the Rainy River to clear up again for optimum pig pulling.

Once again I’ve chosen to bypass my guide trips on the Rainy River. Still you’d have to hold me down to keep me off the River hogs should the trough fill with hungry girls.

One of the greatest things about living here on the border is you go when it is “ON” and you stay away when it is not.

I may do some river consulting this season for guys shooting up needing some tips and starting locations. Heck I may even jump in the boat with ya!! Rumor has it I’m darn good with the net.

BTW……You might want to bring a few bags of Moxies offered through Custom jigs and Spins. Rumor has it they are RAINY RIVER CANDY for big eyes looking to spawn.

Thanks for your input, Chris. As always, we love your information and honest slant on everything. I will be stopping to see Dean on my way through Chippewa Falls this week to add to the moxie bag & pick up whatever else he might suggest. Pool 4 on Friday!!

The SBC boys did a great job on this. I’d do it again.
