Which color scheme do you guys like the most? My wife came up with the white/blue/black and I came up with the other. I actually think that I prefer the white/blue/black. I think that in the summer the white gunnel and light carpet will be much cooler. What do you think?

    I like them both!
I’d give the slight edge to the white combo, though.

Cleaning gray much easier than white or light colors…

My vote would be black and blue.

White is one of the easier colors to keep clean looking. Never see a water spot!

Got to go with the white. They are both sharp looking combos though.

My first glass boat had a dark interior and the second had a white interior. The white is much easier to keep clean.

    Both colors look great though.

Both color combos look great, but do not get the light grey carpet. It is a pain in the *** to keep clean.

I hear all the time that dark colors make it seem hotter in the boat. I can honestly say that I have never noticed any huge temp change between my light and dark colored interiors. If it’s going to be that hot, I usually try to go in the morning or evening. I could maybe see black or other real dark colors, but your grays, reds and blues can’t be that bad.

FYI, it took me about a month to pick the colors for my new WX1900. Should be able to see how it turned out very soon.

White on the interior as your wife has picked is easier to fix when you get the little scratchs and nicks from ordinary day to day fishing.Dark colors show them off more and are harder to fix.No matter how hard you try you are gonna say,how did I get that one.lol.BILL

    Thanks for all the input!

It’s a tough spot because I certainly like the looks of the darker scheme. On the other hand, the white seems more practical. During the summer I will be taking out family members for stuff other than fishing, so escaping the midday heat is unavoidable. I know white hides dirt better and is easier to keep clean based on vehicles I have owned.

The carpet is interesting. I have dark green carpet in my current boat and that got sizzling a couple times this summer. Would that have happened with light grey carpet?? Certainly darker carpet will hide stains better.

BTW – this is for a new MX 1825. I have received a couple of e-mails/PM’s about used WX boats.

I like the darker one on the side view, but the white one on top view.

    Either way can’t go wrong.

Years ago after weigh-in at a PWT tournament I mentioned to a fellow angler cleaning his gold and gray metalflake Ranger that he probably got pretty warm with all that flash, not to mention a good suntan….he replied that I should touch the adjoining white fiberglass boat. It was much hotter to the touch than his metalflake boat….I was just trying to joke and give him a hard time…joke was on me. Consider the metalflake model. White is easier to clean because you can see the dirt easier.
    Lund don’t make metalflake…yet

My 620 had dark gunnels and a dark interior. My new triton is white on the inside, and it is nice! Go with the white. It amazing how much cooler the boat is on a hot day.

I was just informed that the white gel is more prone to cracking. Considering the source, this has me very concerned (Eric). Has anyone who owns a Skeeter experienced issues with this? The more I look at it, the more I like the white.

I can’t comment on this outside of the one white Skeeter I’ve owned. 2010 – WX1950… zero cracking. And it was an awesome looking boat.

The White Cap version. I’ve always had a soft spot for white.

I will clarify on that a little more for others also. Im not sure if it is mainly because you can see a crack easier in white as compared to any flake color, but it seems as though we have fixed more white boats in all brands than any other color. With that said, mysterious cracks are uncommon. I would say 95% of cracks come from improper installation of a add on. Mainly anything that is screwed to the boat. With that said, proper install and care while installing will all but eliminate these issues.
Also should clarify that when we are talking about cracks I am talking about gel coat cracks and not fiberglass cracks. I would compare a gel coat crack to a chip in the paint on a car while a fiberglass crack would be like a weld breaking. Very rarely is it ever a structual crack.

Thanks for the clarification Eric. If SBC installs components and the impossible happens (cracking caused by installed parts), will SBC cover the repair costs?

Most all gel work is covered under warranty. If it is not covered and it was from improper installation or anything along those lines yes we absolutely would cover it. That is speaking for SBC only though I cant speak for any other dealers. The only thing an owner would be liable for is any type of chip or chunk broken or missing from hitting something. Be it a dock or whatever.
Basically most everything is covered if not caused by the owner!!

Go white and light gray. +1 on it being cooler. I have had this rig for 3 years and even on the hotest days is bearable. Careful on the outside edges of the black seat…

Light grey gets just as dirty as dark, you can just see it more with the light grey. I am pretty anal about keeping my stuff in good shape so each spring I treat the carpet with scotchgard. Any stains wipe out easily with a wet towel. At the end of the year I run the wife’s steam cleaner on the carpets. And repeat the following year. Mine still look showroom.

As for cracking, not true at least on mine, and as for if do have to repair, solid gelcoat from doing something dumb, it will be much cheaper.

Go with the darker color combination and just catch enough fish to wash the sides. Keeps your boat cool AND clean!! Seriously my WX2100 is a dark boat and I don’t notice it being hotter than previous owned boats. Clean and LOOKING clean are definately 2 different things!!
