Im going to tackle this project this winter. I think, as long long as my employer cooperates!!!! So Im new to owning a boat and I bought a WX2100. Great boat but i like to upgrade things that I have, so with that being said I was wondering if anyone Has done this and are willing to share an idea? I have made one for a Triton 177 but the rod locker was deeper.

I’ve never done it myself, but I’ve helped a few other people do it. If you need more info just contact me, but I’ll try to give you the short version right now.

We cut 3 pieces of black plastic, one to hold the handles and two to hold the tubes. For the tubes we used golf bag tubes. It looked and worked pretty good.

I am not fond of rod tubes etc. I installed them in my Lund like Joe explained and it put a heck of a limit of how many rods I could store. Ended up taking them out and using rod socks. My Crestliner 182 TS in the lower locker using rod socks I can store 12 trolling setups and the upper locker I can store 9 casting rods that would never be possible with tubes and the socks keep everything organized. I made my own socks cost about $2 a piece.

Have you ever had the individual rod storage? I have it in my boat an I hate it. I can’t fit nearly as many rods in as I would like and it has taken its toll on a few tips. If you have had it and you liked it then good luck with the install. If not consider the amount of storage you will lose.

    Welcome to IDO.

I think you’ll find most of us on here have gone out of our way to remove those darn rod tubes from various rod lockers.

Of course being a Skeeter guy you don’t have rod tubes. Good luck with your project.

You are new to owning a boat and a WX2100 is your first boat. WELL DONE SIR. That’s quite an entry level boat.

We are all huge fans of seeing other’s boats. So pop some pics up here.

Keep your rods in rod socks and you can stack multiple rods on top of each other in the WX2100 rod locker. I have around 15-20 rods in my locker. Rods are protected and won’t bunch together.

Welcome to IDO and congrats to the WX2100!!

I picked up some heavy nylon material from the fabric store. They have different weights to choose from, so you can decide how stiff or heavy you want them.

Lay the rod on a bench and figure how you want them to run over the reel or not. I did not cover the reel wastes to much fabric. Fold the material around the rod leaving room for eyelets and such, mark material with enough room to sew together, cut on the marks, after sewing turn inside out and done. I put a piece of elastic on the reel end that goes over my reel handle to hold the sock on. I have different color socks for different length rods.

Thanks to everyone that replied and that welcomed me to the site. I really enjoy this site. I will post pictures of the boat. Its the blue version of Chris’ boat, and to Ruger2506 thank you for the comments on the boat. I have the best wife she told me to buy it after the guys at SBC took us for a ride! No lie! I talked to Eric at SBC and he talked me out of the locker as well. So I’ll do the rod socks.
