Is the oxygenator just a pump that can be put into an older skeeter livewell, such as a 1790T? Or is it more complex than that?

No pump, just a power source, drill a 2″ hole and mount.

Oxygenator is an electronic device that seperates/splits the hydrogen & oxygen molecules, releasing the oxygen into the water.

It can be added to any livewell, but remember it is only changing the water that is in the livewell. So if you are continuously cycling your pump, it may only slightly add to the oxygen level of the water you have in the livewell. Where it really helps is on long runs between spots to keep fish livelier when you can’t continuously cycle the water.

After being in Ritter’s boat last week and we kept a half dozen walleyes alive in 84 degree water healthy as when we caught them for 6+ hours i am a strong believer!

The “Oxygenator” in our Skeeter WX2100 is mind boggling. Our fish stay alive all day long in nearly any weather conditions. During the heat of both July and August I do opt to have my pump settings on High. This is a huge plus keeping fish fresh for a meal beyond the likely intentions for tournament fisherman.

All fish have that dreaded “Fishy Taste” when they’ve been dead for several hours. No Mushy fillets in our boat!!

do these come with a manual on/off switch as well, rather than the auto-on when submerged?
would like to something like this for keeping suckers lively in the fall rather than running the Frabill portables that i’m using now, but i don’t want/need something that runs constantly.

You could just disconect from the battery. I don’t think there is enough of a draw though to hurt your battery if you just leave it on. It’s not like running your pumps. There is not really any visible sighn that they are running. Who has a good trick for cleaning the mesh?? I tried CLR and a tooth brush without the best results

So this weekend I used just a portable Oxygenator that works off AA batteries, basically just sits on the bottom of the livewell and the control box rested ontop of the livewell with velcro to the carpet of the livewell lid. This unit worked great, very lively fish from 730 am start til 3 pm in this heat. I talked with a few people who have the non portable hooked up, they don’t every worry about the minimal draw, if attached to your cranking motor you should never have to worry about drawing down your battery, they only will turn on when the water reaches the sensor, and shut off automatically when water is drained. for me on the portable oxygenator.

I have an oxygenator on my WX1880 but I can’t tell if it is working. When the livewell is full of water I don’t see or here anything happening. The screen on the oxygenator is clean so what gives. Any idea?
    Thanks. Dan

    Hi Dan,

If you look closely at the screens there should be “micro bubbles” coming off of it. There isn’t a sound, just the splitting of hydrogen and oxygen from h2O molecules. You’ll need to be in good light to see it.

Thanks Briank, I will fill it with water and look. Is this something that normaly needs to be replaced after so many years?

I’m really the wrong guy to answer that question since I only had possession of two different models for a very short time.

Keeping the screen clean is key to a long lived working oxygenator.
