Well, I’ll finally get a chance to see how the Skeeter likes big kings in the boat. Hopefully the fish decide to cooperate.

Looks pretty snazzy….concern: with the long booms the stress you are putting on the fiberglass to the downrigger plate may cause some cracking of the glass – the long boom is a long lever and may create quite a bit of stress on the joint in addition to the drag from the ball – if it becomes a problem cut the booms shorter . I am using Walker downriggers with 24″ booms and do not have a problem with cables getting near the prop of my troling motor. Just a thought….

Hull warranty. Plus I didn’t install the mounting plates just for that reason. If they should fail, while it would suck. It’s not on me.

I’ve asked and asked to verify I’ve got the on these.

I had the same concerns as you. I wanted backing plates installed and I was assured that they are not necessary. We’ll see.

Hopefully Eric or Gregg from SBC would chime in with their thoughts?

Well, after 10 solid hours of fishing Lake Michigan in 5′-6′ seas the riggers worked perfectly. I have 4′ booms on the riggers and run 10# cannon balls. There are NO cracks that I can see in the gel coat after all that stress. I’d say they are good to go.

Now will I be good to go? I did a fair amount of chumming this weekend.

You got cracks in the gel coat (that would surprise me) or did you mean “there aren’t any cracks?”

For what its worth… I had the 2100 out on Superior earlier in the week in some huge seas running 4 riggers mounted to tracks on the gunnels and everything held up perfectly.

TYPO—–There are NO cracks in the Gel Coat. Bad proof reading, sorry.

I’m guilty of fat fingering the keys from time to time myself.
