Has anybody put any other motors other than Yamaha on their Skeeter. Nothing wrong with Yam but last boat had a Suzuki and I loved it plus the weight of the 175 is less than the 200HPDI. Should push the 1825 over 50mph.

Suzuki still makes boat motors?????? I am just kidding – you sure don’t see many of them on the back of boats these days.
I here I thought we were going to get Suzuki’s opinion on Skeeters darn it.
skeeter is owned by Yamaha, therefore most Skeeters are rigged with Yamaha’s…but if you can find a dealer that will put a Suzuki on then you should be good. I know a dealer in Wisconsin puts Mercs on their Skeeters.
It’s possible. I know there’s a dealer in Fond du Lac that only used Mercury on their Skeeters. Look at the Skeeter website and go to the dealer locator. There are a few that carry Suzuki in their lineup. They might be willing to order a boat unrigged and hang a Suzuki for you. It can’t hurt to ask. Keep it in mind though that shopping for a dealer is as important as shopping for a boat. It’s too bad Yamaha doesn’t have a 175. I think it’s a big hole in their line up especially given the popularity of 18 foot boats.

me too!
Suzuki 4 strokes are fine motors – at least equal in quality to Yamaha. Not sure of the HPDI models.
I’m pretty sure Frankies in Chisago City will hang a Suzuki on a Skeeter for you.
Yep, find the right dealer and they will do it for you.
I would be suprised if the 175 hp Suzuki was much faster than a 150 hp Yamaha and I think they already are hitting 50 mph with that motor. The Suzuki 175 hp is the same motor as the 150 hp. Their 115 hp and 140 hp are the same motor as well and they run about the same speed, so I’m assuming the 150 and 175 do as well.
I am sure it can be done but imho even though the Suzuki may be a good motor they are f-ugly! I have seen a Skeeter with a Merc and Etec.
Suzuki outboards are awesome, problem is not many dealers like there are for Merc,Yamaha, and Evinrude. Not sure why as it certainly is not because of poor performance or reliability.
In response to the MX1825, Yamaha does not currently make a 175. The F150 TXR weighs in @ 487 lbs. The 200 HPDI tips the scales @ 475 lbs and when you throw in the 2 stroker oil tank it’s a wash.
I have had several days of behind the wheel time with the new MX single and DC. Yesterday with the SC and F150 in 100deg heat posting speeds single driver of 51.9 gps. 3 guys 49.8 and moving 1 passanger to sit on the livewell gained 1.2 mph. Test runs on the first MX that arrived in May when the temp was in the 50 deg range produced speeds up to 52.8 on the lake and 54 down stream on the river. No 200’s here yet but are on the way.

Not sure where you are fishing, but have seen plenty of them this year.

what about putting a honda on a skeeter?
Now that’s just crazy talk.
Same as the OP, just find a dealer that carries both and ask them.
The reason dealers don’t like hanging a Suzuki on a boat is they never see it again. No warranty work.
That is why I want it. I had a tilt/trim hydraulic leak on my last boat and the dealer did not know how to do warranty paper work because they had not had a claim in years. They are very good on fuel and so quiet I had to add a run light on the dash.
