Hey guys I was just looking for some info on the wx 2000t from someone who has fished out of one or owns one. I’ve been emailing Chad at SBC and pricing out the 2000t 1850 and 1900. I really want the tiller but the wifey aint very thrilled about that. But my question is an 80 vantage strong enough for the back of the boat. Will it run all day on a full charge under decent conditions and does it move the boat without running the thing at 50%. And one other thing is the single axle enough for the size of this boat. If I didn’t have to manuever it in the garage I wouldn’t think twice about it but I do. And I dont run really long distances all the often. I trailer from western wi to Leech twice a year and Winnie once other then that its usually just to the Croix or Pepin area when I stay close to home. I think I read on the single axle its rating is like 2900# which seems a little light to me. Thanks for your help.

I don’t have a 2000T but I have a 2095BT Yar Craft which is similar in size. I have the 80 pound Vantage and it is more than adequate in my opinion.
July 1, 2011 at 11:48 am #977719I have a 2000T and the 80 lb Vantage is plenty on there. If I ever have to run it over 6 or 7, its usually time to switch over to the big motor. I know I’ve run it 8+ hours in a day and if I remember right I forgot to plug the boat in one night, so I got another 8 hours out of it the next day. I can’t speak about the trailer because I have a tandem axle. I don’t know how much manuevering you have to do, but I have been able to move mine around by hand in the garage. If you have anymore questions, just shoot. Chad is a bass fishing guy so he might not have all of your answers.
July 1, 2011 at 1:42 pm #977754The tandem under my 2000T is a 4000lb rating. I have a tight squeeze in my garage and I move it around pretty easy.
Just my opinion, but I’d shy away from a single axle trailer on a 20′ boat. Especially if it’s only a 2900lb axle.
I have a 101 Vantage on mine so I can’t help with your other question.
July 1, 2011 at 4:31 pm #977830Like otheres have mentioned the 80lb is big enough but if you can make it work out putting the 101 on there would not be a bad idea.
As far as the trailer, depnding on how much moving you have to do with it you may still be ok with the dual axle. One trick I have learned to make moving a double axle around is to either crank the tounge jack all the way down or all the way up and it will take quite a bit of the weight off the one axle.
Just my experiences!!!
July 2, 2011 at 5:07 pm #977998I have not heard any more news at this point if or when they will bump it back up to the 150. I know they are working on a few new designs including the remote tiller handle and also a hydraulic steering system but have not heard any type of time frame at this point.
I would not expect anything in the very near future at this point.
July 3, 2011 at 12:08 am #978042That’s too bad. 115hp on an 1800lb boat just isn’t enough for alot of guys.

Did you come up with a place for this event Dave?
Skeeter wants to offer 150 again. Approval of remote steering systems by Yamaha is the hold up.
July 3, 2011 at 11:12 pm #978140Why don’t they offer it anyways, there are dealers that sell skeeters with Mercs.

It’s very high on their priority list. Yamaha owns Skeeter and prefers to sell Skeeters packaged with a Yamaha. There is a dealer in Fond Du Lac WI (where the Merc assembly plant is) who sells Skeeters with all Mercs because of his customer base. It’s not very typical though. Skeeter’s going to put a 150 back on WX2000T, just can’t say when at this time.
July 16, 2011 at 2:28 pm #981430the F150 rocks on this boat.
2 guys, fulllly loaded with muskie gear, 40 gallons of gas: 47mph. never figured i’d throw a rooster with a tiller, but maybe that comes from the Skeeter heritage?
even more importantly, it snaps up on plane in 4 seconds.amazingly dry ride in the wind and waves, especially considering it’s a tiller. awesome fishability. raised a few eyebrows around camp…
i was lucky enough to find a new ’09 with the bigger motor…hoping that Skeeter/Yamaha get the rating back up before it’s time for a new rig in a few years!
as for the electric, i’ve got a 36v Terrova on the bow and in 2 weeks on LotW i only ran it above “4” on one occasion, and that was moving us into the wind in 2′ waves. there’s some areas of really strong current there, and the 101 lb electric moved the boat around nicely. if you can swing it, more power is always better.
i’ve got the tandem-axle trailer too. it’s a heavy boat on a tandem and that means it’s tough to move by hand. it’s possible, but it’s tough. it pulls really smooth though, and the added confidence of the extra wheels is nice.
