Rail seats??

I know this is an odd request, but on a rare day off the water my cluttered brain dreams up strange things. We cast jigs over structure for walleyes with use of our I-Pilot holding us above fish for much of the remaining season. This makes the spacious back end of our WX2100 a dream. Often times we’ll have 3 guys hurling jigs with the wind directly out the back of the boat. One guy will often sit in the bike chair in the middle while the other two guys are on each side of the boat. As we have rails on the boat which we LOVE resting on top of a rail is a bit overrated. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a rail mounted bike seat that could be mounted for this use?? Not an engineer by any means I would thing a there would be a way say a company like “Ram” would be able to squeeze a bracket that would hold a bike seat to rest on each side of the boat?? I Know……I know…..Odd request, but if they made them I assure you I’d own them.

Whiskey will help with the day dreaming Chris.

You have a good idea although I don’t think your insurance guy would like a photo of 200+ pound guys hanging thier butts on skinney seats fastened to a thin chrome rail.

Go for it Chris, I don’t mind!

And last time I checked there wasn’t anything in the underwriting manual that excluded something like that either.

On TV or someplace didn’t I see seats mounted on a rod hanging on the outside of the hull? Deep sea boat I think. Those boys at SBC are wizards at rigging! On your next Skeeter get them to drill holes on both sides of the top cap to run a pipe threw, then you can mount seats on the outside!

Wish I could find a photo for you. That my friend would be the talk of Rainy Lake!!

LOL!! I’m sure it would be. I guess I’m thinking the seat would actually rest just inside the boat yet the fastening bracket would attach to the rail system. More of a lean against pivoting style seat rather than a full blown seat to spin on?

I’d have to think it could be possible.
heck if they can make seats for Golf push carts, somebody can sure make one for boat rails!

Atta boy!! How about call it the “Rail Rester” Surely we’d need several disclaimers like if you lean back without a backrest you could take a drink….. What I’m thinking is kind of a scooped bike chair that dips over the inside of the glass side wall. Mounts of course on the rail and also has a couple rubber stops that would have to rest upon the fiberglass.

If your not anchored or moored, pretty sure that would be illegal in Mn. Illegal to sit on the side, or bow while moving. I know you would get pulled over on the St Croix with a set up like that.

I’m not thinking of transporting people this way. For that matter nor would I transport people on any bike chairs per there positioning. Agan….used for casting out the back of the boat when I-pilot is on or anchored with multiple customers.
