I have a 2000T with the tandem axle trailer and the last couple of times I towed the boat I noticed that it really starts to shake at speeds over 60 mph. I did the simple things like inspecting the tires and everything looks good there. Any suggestions before I bring it in somewhere?

I had the same thing
I rotated the tires in a X pattern and it was gone
Its easier to have a tire shop with a rack do it
It cost me $20 but workedJune 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm #971178While you have the tires off have them balanced. Treat your trailer tires just as you would your trucks tires. Regular balance and rotation.
June 7, 2011 at 12:24 pm #971447Could be one of a few things. One being like mentioned, the tires need to be rotated and balanced or could be as bad as a slightly bent axel from hooking a tire while at the ramp and pulling out.
Like mentioned, I would have them rotated and balanced first and hope that solves the issues!
June 7, 2011 at 1:08 pm #971465Thanks guys. I’ll start with the easy solution and go from there. I’ve never heard of anyone balancing and rotating trailer tires, so I wasn’t sure that would do any good.
I sure wish Skeeter Boat Center would open up another store, say somewhere by Rogers.

Are you kinda thinking in the old Link Recreation location next to Cabela’s?
June 7, 2011 at 1:31 pm #971479Maybe there is a ton of bugs stuck to the wheels from ML last weekend Hope you get it figured out, nothing more annoying then going down the road and having a vehicle or trailer shake.

The old Crystal Pierz Marine shop would be better…Lots of inside boat storage, new showroom floor as well as a huge service center….

Same building isn’t it? I think Link came in there after CP bailed. The building I’m thinking of has the big electronic message board in front. Sits right in front of Mpls. Trailer Sales.
June 8, 2011 at 4:13 pm #971866No not the same building, former crystal pierz building is next to the RV shop and by Northern Tool. The building your thinking of is down where you turn to go to Cabelas….both viable options.
June 10, 2011 at 12:17 pm #972363Good news! I got it fixed and it cost me about 20 minutes of labor. I started taking off the tires and on the second one I noticed the tire didn’t look very round. I spun it and it had actually taken on more of an oval shape. After I removed it, the tread was worn very uneven. It almost looked like it was skipping and just wearing down the rubber in one spot. I threw the spare on and towed it about 30 miles and no more shaking. I’m going to bring the old tire in to figure out what happened, but atleast for now I have 4 good tires to go fishing again.
