    o Yamaha F150 Top speed: Upper 40’s – low 50’s MPH

    o Yamaha F115 Top speed: Upper 30’s

    James,

Do you know what kind of load the boats had during these test numbers. And insight as to mid RPM performance and hole shot on the specific motors? Wish I was free this Sunday.

    Thanks,

The loads could best be described as HEAVY and they kept the variables very consistent from one motor test to the next.

These numbers were taken with full livewell, added weight to match the weight of three batteries, full tank of fuel and two anglers.

If memory serves, minimum speeds to stay on plane were 16 – 18 MPH with the 150/200 and 22 MPH with the 115.

I honestly can’t recall hole shot times from the various motors but I can say that the 150 hole shot was good and the 200 HPDI… even better!

I’ll record both the minimum plane speeds as well as the hole shot times for the 150 HP on Thursday/Friday and post that info in follow up so we have it on hand.

Well it’s about time a boat manufacture got their head screwed on straight!

All the rod storage, bait storage and live wells are nice, but the smaller front deck and larger aft area is TOTALLY AWESOME!!

I know my type of fishing is different than most, but who needs a dance floor up front?

Kudos to the folks in the design dept!!

This model series appears to be ideal for our southern reservoirs. I like the lower side profile, the rear deck with livewell access lid. The rear jump seats in the WX series has been a sticking point for me. Would hope to see a 19-5 model because just under 20 would be great for guiding, even for the striper guys.

what is the approximate price comparison to a wx1850, with an F150 on each?

i know it will be a few days for final pricing, but ballpark. like very close or is the wx 5k plus more?

    Welcome to idofishing.com, ozarkeyes!

We’re glad you like it. I tell you what, as a group we knew we had a good multi-species layout on our hands once we started showing it to test groups. The crappie guys would say “that would make a good crappie boat.” The walleye guys saw a walleye boat, and the muskie guys saw a muskie boat.

Beauty, and functionality, is in the eye of the beholder.

As for the longer boat for guiding… a larger version of this model would make sense to me too.

    Phigs,

This is a question best answered by Dave Markquart. I’m sure he’ll be back through in the AM before he leaves for Hayward.

During the boat show season we were selling base WX1850’s in the low 30k’s after incentives plus sales tx.

As has been mentioned several times in prior posts, the exact pricing is going to depend on final composition of std equipment. I know the Skeeter regional manager for our area is pushing for more std features because the overall total price will come in for less money than if there is a low base price and you have lots of add on features. The key is picking the right options to make standard that a large majority of fishermen would order anyway. That’s how you build great value for the money! Skeeter is very sensitive to competitive pricing. That said, I know they are still discussing final pricing for MX1825. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Once they announce final pricing we’ll do a breakdown and compare features/benefits of MX1825 to WX1850. They are complimentary models, not direct competitors. Depending on where and how you fish, one will be better for you than the other. With Skeeter you pick from the best of both worlds. I know people would like to know pricing info now. Its just not ready yet…

    This is a sweet boat!

I really like the side rod storage idea. I’ve always thought the center rod lockers were a great idea, except when it came to stowing the longer rods. After looking at the first pictures I was bummed to see that they went with the center rod storage, until the full press release came out. I know I could easily stow all of my rods in this boat.

The livewell layout looks great. I like the small hatch idea in back for bait instead of having to open up the large door.

I assume a T8 could be mounted on the transom too?

James, any thoughts on fishability with a T9.9 (or my old T8) attached? Is a bracket needed? How about proximity to a seat base to run the tiller? Last question, is there an easy method for attaching rod holders in various spots throughout the boat? It DOES look pretty awesome from the picx on here .

Yep, absolutely. The transom was designed with a kicker in mind with the flexibility to mount a kicker on either side of the big motor without a bracket. Do note that the transom height was selected carefully so when a tiller kicker is used the tiller handle cannot hit the gunnels.

The transom of the MX is “tiller friendly.” See reply above.

There’s two seat bases on top of the back deck offset to each side. Those bases would work well if you wanted to run it by hand from the back deck.

I would suggest a rail system. I’ve used it on all my fiberglass boats and I’ve enjoyed them so much I think I’d put them on all boats going forward regardless of hull material. I’ve attached a pic of my WX 1950 that shows rails on the port side. I mounted two holders and my graph to the rails and could re-position at will without drill additional holes.

Few more questions for you James…

I noticed in the pictures there is not carpet in the cockpit area. I’m assuming snap in carpet is available, but is that going to be an extra option and not standard equipment?

In regards to additional storage, is there quite a bit of room? Is there storage on both sides of the livewells, as well as in the bow area?

Lastly, any chance a 200 SHO might come available that a guy could strap on the back of this thing? That motor right there would probably make this boat the fastest 18′ multi species wheel boat on the water.

    Justin,

I am far from being an expert, but from following a number of MX threads, it seems as though a 200 “SHO” or Offshore version is 2-3 years out yet. But I know that you are not the only one thinking of this.

I was just wondering are they still coming out with a tiller model with a 115 that would be a great boat for the area I fish. The 1775 with a 75 is just not enough motor for me and the 20 fter is a tad too big for what I need. Any info would be great. I already got the okay for a new toy next yr and mx1825 with 115four stroke would fit the bill.

    #965534

I’ve heard the same thing too, but a guy can dream right?!

Call me optimistic, but I think that MX hull with a 200SHO on it could push 60MPH with the right prop & cup work.

Right on RJ. I am also interested in the tiller boat. The 115 would be great, whether or not it need assisted steering.

    Any plans?

My understanding is that the snap in carpet will be standard. The carpet for this boat was not ready in time for the boat to make the journey to MN/WI this week but you should start seeing it in all future boats.

Yes, there are large storage areas (two total – see second photo above) one on each side of the center rod locker. In the back of the deck there’s two storage compartments, one on each side of the livewell.

When the 200 SHO is done it will absolutely be a great match for the 1825 MX. But don’t expect that motor in the short term. Word is we’re looking at a couple years of wait time before a SHO 200 will be available. In the mean time… that 200 HPDI is a very strong motor with a long track record of reliability.

Thanks for the questions, Justin. See you on Sunday!

A lot of design thought and effort went into this hull to ensure that it handled as well going backward as it does going forward. Will there be a tiller model? I think we can go with “very, very likely.”

    James,

Any word on the trailer for the MX? Or is this something that is still part of the standard options discussion?

    Thanks,

Single axle will be standard. Fender material, etc., has yet to be determined.

Thanks for all the info. Can’t wait to see this boat in person. As with many I have been anxiously waiting for the release.

Curious what the hull weight is? I am trying to gauge a ballpark total weight of this boat/package for towing.

would the performance of the SHO eclipse that of the 200 HPDI? i can’t see how it would. 2 strokes typically run faster, IMO.

James- You guys just created my dream boat. I fish a little of everything and have struggled with a boat design that fits well. This new boat is perfect. I can comfortably fish smaller local lakes for bass, walleye, northern, etc yet there’s storage for long trolling rods, and a big enough dance floor behind the cockpit to battle Salmon on lake Michigan. I’m cetainly one of those guys that appreciates a nice casting deck on the front, but believed most boat designs had decks that were way oversized and really took needed room away from back of the boat. WHAT A NICE LOOKING BOAT!

Once again very nice looking boat. Great information on it. Had to go back to your original photos and start imagining what it would look like as a tiller.
