Are you guys achieving your peak RPMS with the stainless Reliance Prop that comes with your Yammi F150? Anybody make and significant pitch changes on this outboard/prop?

I never installed the aluminum prop so I can tell you I have plenty of speed and the hole shot is good. Alumacraft Nav. 175cs.
April 18, 2011 at 4:16 pm #958346Yamaha factory prop is not the reliance series. It is a painted black stainless. I switched to the reliance on my 1880 with a 150 and could touch 6100 rpm’s if I tried hard but mostly ran 5900 to 6000, which is the top of the rpm range. About the only thing that I found to do better than that stock reliance was to have some cupping work done to it also. It improved hole shot some and got about another mph out of it and kept the rpms the same.
Feel free to give me a shout with any specific questions!!!
April 18, 2011 at 10:36 pm #958471Eric, Aren’t the 1850 and 1880 hulls a bit different? Will that make much of a difference with the F150’s in terms of speed and RPM performance between the two hulls?
I’m sure Yamaha tested the 1850/F150 hull with that new Reliance Yamaha prop anyhow. You probably won’t find another prop that will do better than that. They are pretty thorough in their testing.
Wade – like Eric said, if you can get it to 59-60K RPM’s WOT, you should see 48-50 MPH GPS with a full/big load. My 1880 does the same with a Merc Inertia 19P prop.
Welcome to the Skeeter world too!April 19, 2011 at 1:30 am #958509Quote:

There isnt a big enough difference in the hulls to make a difference with a prop. The MOST differences are design changes for when at w.o.t. being for tracking, control, spray location, and wave cutting.
I will mention again, the factory prop that comes with the f150 is NOT the reliance series, im not exactly sure what they call it as i just know it as the factory prop, but i know its not the reliance.
I know Yamaha tested them with the reliance but I believe they stuck with a little cheaper prop because not everyone wants to or can shell out the extra $500 for an upgraded prop. Now if you order a boat most places can work out a deal as far as getting a different prop right away so you dont have that big of a price difference, but thats a different subject.Like anything else if you can hit that 5800 to 6000 rpm range you will have the best performance. And for the F150 the best prop I have found for that is the reliance series. Im sure there is other brands and such that will do about the same but I havent tested them all!!

Sorry Eric, I misspoke. I did upgrade to the 19p Stainless Reliance.April 20, 2011 at 12:39 am #958803Not a problem Wade, just didnt want to confuse others and cause any issues so I figured I would make it clear!!!
