Skeeter MX2025 or WX1910

Hi Skeeter experts. Going to buy a new Skeeter but torn between the WX1910 and the MX2025, coming out of a Lund Fisherman. I fish a Lake in Canada a few times a year that can get pretty rough. Plus Pepin/Pool4 and some smaller lakes and plan on LOTW and Greenbay. Fish multi-species. Love the space on the MX2025 but I’m concerned with the lower sides and riding lower in the water, the possibility of getting wet when moving slow in bigger waves. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is my 2nd year fishing from the MX-2025. Most of my fishing is done on a local reservoir but I also fish on Green Bay and chase salmon a few days every summer on Lake Michigan.
No issues yet with getting wet that I’ve noticed.

3rd summer on MX2025 been to Nipigon twice and Mille Lacs often, never had a problem with the low sides. Bought it because I loved the storage but actually in use find the low sides to be a great feature. in fact I would really miss them if I changed boats.

I would base my decision on conditions I fish the majority of the time vs what I might run into maybe 1-2 times a year… If buying new it’s best to wait a few months and see what changes the 2016’s offer, i’m guessing you’ll see many of the current MX owner suggestions implemented in the 2016’s…

I went into a WX 1910 from a 1900 Pro-V about a month ago. First, no matter which hull you choose the ride will be incredibly smoother and you won’t feel like you’re fishing inside a refrigerator box (I used to have an 1800 Fisherman).

I chose the WX 1910 for multiple reasons: 1) Has React keel which after riding in for the first time on a LOTW walleye chop, I was grinning ear-to-ear. No more pounding. 2) Lays out really well for my fishing needs (walleye structure fishing, smallies, northerns and muskies). 3) I do really like the jump seats because there’s no need for additional seats in the cockpit and they’re nice for a family day on the water. While we use the WX about 3/4 of the time for pure fishing, it converts really well for tubing or going for a cruise. 4) I’m in northern MN, but we also have a cabin on LOTW. The WX is nimble enough to fish small area lakes but can take on anything LOTW’s can dish out. 5) Storage is twice as better than the Pro-V and is dry. 6) Sides seem to be about the same hight as the Pro-V – not too high/not too low.

Having fished large bodies of water in my Pro-V, I feel every bit as comfortable in the WX 1910 – but with the benefit of the smooth, dry ride and a lot less pounding. Get a tandem trailer for the WX 1910.

I’m on my 2nd season on my MX2025. I was faced with the same choice you are and really torn between a WX and MX. I’m completely satisfied with my decision. I fish 60% of the time on medium sized lakes and Miss River and the rest on bigger water (L Michigan for Salmon, Green Bay for Walleyes, Leech, Mille Lacs, etc) I’ve got a lot of hours trolling in pretty big waves and the low sides have not been an issue at all.

It comes down to personal preference and how much time you’re on really big water vs fishing smal to medium water.

If you want to run 5 MPH faster out in big waves and deal with fishing over higher sides and farther from the water, get the WX.

If you’re OK with running 5 MPH slower in big waves but have the convenience of fishing with lower sides and closer to the water, get the MX.

I don’t think you can really go wrong either way! Good Luck!

I also came from a 2004 1700 Lund Fisherman…..and went with a 2014 MX 2025. Having said this, I live within 15 minutes of 7 different ramps on pools 6,7,and 8. We have a family of five, so square footage was a big part of our decision and the MX 2025 was the longest boat that we could fit in one stall of our garage.

Big water fishing: We are actually leaving tomorrow for the Brainerd lakes area for a week of fishing. We will be staying on Pelican and it can get rough. Also have day trips to possibly Leech and others depending on reports.

I will say that during break in, I had one really windy day on the river. I was really pleased as to the tracking of the boat at all speeds, but especially with a cross wind. The hull is just plain sticky.

I have NOT driven a WX 1910, but it was the 2nd boat on the list. SBC did put me in contact with another customer that was balancing between the two boats. He was shopping at the same time as us and he had actually driven both platforms. I had only experienced the MX. We had a great discussion comparing notes and fishing styles, etc. He had a lot of good things to say about the WX, but in the end it believe the MX was just a better fit for our family. The other thing was that I was able to get a comparable equipped MX for significant savings over a WX.

I came from a WX1850 and now run a MX2025 and the 1910 has more similarities to a 1850 than a 2025 The MX is the best boat I have ever fished out of look at the depth of the step on the back its signicantly lower so when its time to net a fish or step up and down on it all day its not as taxing. the gunnels are closer to the water but also high enough to keep water out so you don’t catch as much wind. the keels are the same they track really well. I say get in each of them and imagine yourself pitching jigs, vertical jigging, rigging, bottom bouncing, cranking, handlining and you will find that the MX is your boat. In my opinion.

i switched from a WX2000T to a WX1910. aside from fitting in the garage more easily, I was surprised at how much easier the new 19′ boat is to launch/load than my old 20′ tiller. if you’re in and out of local lakes often, it’s worth a test drive that includes launching and loading.

as a muskie fisherman, the higher freeboard of the WX1910 is a complete non-issue. in spite of the age-old appeal of muskie fishing “close to the water,” the truth is that with 8’6″ and 9′ rods, the couple extra inches of height has no impact on boat side maneuvers. plus the rear deck offers very good access to the water for working on a fish in the net.

i got the WX1910 so I could go anywhere i wanted at anytime i wanted. it can get pretty nasty on LotW in October, and i’m really looking forward to not caring this fall!

Thank you everyone for your comments and replying to my questions. I think I will be waiting to see what changes are coming to the 2016 MX2025 and if the 2015’s are going to be discounted. I’ll post when the new baby arrives. Thanks again to everyone.

Yes picked up a mx2025 late last fall, was able to put about 10 hours on it before winterizing. Absolutely love it ,the ride and fishability is great. SBC was great to work with they are the # 1 dealer. I took a few pictures last fall but didn’t turn out good ,will post when I get better ones.

Just brought the boat back from having a new bow cover and full enclosure top made for it and took some pictures. They turned out pretty good, so I thought I would share. If you would like to see pictures of the boat with the enclosure, let me know.

    I have a 2013 mx2025

What I like about the MX – tackle storage in the back. I am not a fan of the jump seats I also have no kids.

What I don’t like about the MX although minor.

I think the front storage doors could be made stronger (maybe they are now) If you stand on them or are going to stand on them for long periods of time, they will start to sink/flex in, does not affect usability but you can see that after a while they will not be flush to the stop of the deck.

The front storage compartments are not dry. If it rains hard when fishing, they will get wet with the water coming up the sides towards the front. Side rod locker and bottom of the split storage as well. Noticed this on the trailer when the cover was on as well, so make sure when you park it, if you can, on a good angle to where it can drain to back. Level surface will not do you any good, this is using the factory cover.

    Overall,

Love the boat, when in some rough stuff, and when the wife says she loves it and feels safer that is all I can ask for.

Thanks Joel. When looking at SBC, there were a few boats I was looking at and this wasn’t my first choice at the beginning. It was on the showroom floor close to other boats, but once I got looking closer and saw in the sunlight, it really caught my eye. I am very glad I went with this one, because it is really sharp on the water. Anyone looking for a Skeeter should definitely go to the SBC, you won’t be disappointed working with them.

Do you happen to have pictures of the full enclosure? How is the bow cover attached?

Here’s a few pictures of the enclosure and the bow cover, as you can see from the pictures the bow cover is just snapped on.

    Nice looking boat, and enclosure.
I’m thinking about getting a similar enclosure for my MX 1825.
    Who made the enclosure ?
And how much did it cost ?

    Thanks.

I had canvas craft make it for me. They are located on Otsego, MN.The top and enclosure was 2,326 and the bow cover was 300.00. I received 10% off of that with a boat show coupon. they did very nice work, stainless and bullet fittings used.
