Anyone think of something creative to upgrade front rod locker? A good pull when it’s locked and you can access it. Think it the aluminum that bends where it latches. This winter was going to try to engineer something more sturdy. Love the boat itself.

I just adjusted the latch so it will not pull open. The down side is you don’t want to let it slam close as you will run the risk of breaking the aluminum hooks.

I haven’t thought of anything different but I rarely lock mine now.

Have you looked into the Loc-R-Bar?

Ah , Google. It’s an option I see. Was hoping something by more compact but thanks for the suggestion. I might go that ways.

From what I’ve heard a good prybar will bend it out of the way. However it will at least slow down or prevent most hands from getting in.

Do you leave it on the water when not there or are you worried about it sitting at home?

Any thief worth his salt will get into anything you rig up if he wants to. The question is how much damage do you want him to cause doing it? While a cover isn’t much protection it does help with the spur of the moment guys. Out of sight out of mind.

I think the best thing you can do is inventory all your rods, reels, gear and take pictures. Send the photo file to you insurance agent to be kept in your file he has. Then if the unthinkable happens at least everybody knows what you lost. With todays camera phones this is easy and everybody should consider it.

Other than that I personally haven’t seen anything I thought would keep a thief out.

Sometimes I leave it on the water or at hotel. Might be easier just to take them out with me.

X2 with DB. Every spring I take photos of everything. Then I do a 2-3 minute video of everything laying out and extra rods on the walls. Takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. A couple emails to the insurance guy and done! Now at the motels, I put the cover on and don’t sweat it. If stolen, shopping spree would start that morning to at least get me by for the trip.
