I have difficulty draining water from front bait well and the stern storage compartments hold water without drainage. Found this out yesterday back trolling on Mille Lacs wind. Any body have solutions? TIA.

Is it possibly clogged with Fiberglass remnants or debris?

is water sloshing up into the stern storage compartments from the bilge? if you look inside towards the stern, is it open into the bilge area? (it is on my WX1910)

i installed small scuppers (one way drain valves) in the bottom of similar storage compartments on an old boat where i had that issue. they allowed any water that got into the compartment from the bilge area or from wet gear to drain out without allowing water up through it.

Thats alot of water in the storage! When I had MX I had water in the storage but not that bad. Thought was an early model problem with livewell splashing over. Seems like you have different issue.

That water came in from back trolling in 4 ft seas. The problem is that there is no vent to let the water go into the bilge to be pumped out. Rather odd there is no vent. Dealer looking at it now.

Yes I think that is the solution. Its a new 2016 and I am surprised that vents were not in those compartments. The dealer is taking care of it.

That is something they changed on the early ones. They now have holes drilled through there to drain. If it is a 2016 my best guess is that they just missed/forgot to do that one.

    Eric,

Can you post where exactly to drill drainage holes on older MX1825’s?

    JoeMX,
Here is a picture of the storage container from my 2025. Tough to see, but there four holes. One in each corner.

hmm, from the picture Mark Hansen posted, it looked like the standing water was inside the rear storage cubby, not the drop in plastic bin? So my question was around if drainage holes had to be drilled inside the fiberglassed cubby area?

Correct that is the plastic insert the where does the water go after it drains out of the insert?

Im my 2025 it is open to the very back of the boat. You have access to starting battery. If there was that much water in my starboard compartment, the whole back of the boat would have that much water. Now I am really confused.

I see. I have the dealer talking to the Skeeter rep. I’ll post what I find out.

Attached is a picture of the starboard side storage compartment and it shows where a drain hole would be placed from Skeeter. This is a picture off the showroom here at SBC on a 2015 MX1825.
    Hopefully this helps

That looks good I guess Skeeter forgot to put mine in Cal.

Cal beat me to it. It is a fairly thin piece that encloses that area. its right off the back of the livewell.

1/2″ hole and you should be fine!!

I think my 2014 also has drain holes in the corners of each of those compartments, but if you dont store the boat with it tilted up they will not fully drain. For me the bow storage is awful. I had to drill holes in my rod locker so that it would drain and I just put marine weatherstrip around each of the bow compartments to see if that helps. My only complaint about the boat is the lack of dry storage.

Yes dry storage is an issue. Also the bow bait well doesn’t drain week when on the trailer. The drainage tub just doesn’t have the slope so there is always a little water in it.
