I just took ownership of a new 2016 FX20. I’ve never seen trailer lights (rear ovals) quite like these. What I would like to do is put all smoked lens trailer lights on the boat trailer and get rid of all the red lens reflectors etc.

Have any of you guys done this and if so, could you assist me in where to find the the lights I am looking for?
    Thanks in advance.

You can get oval trailer lights most anywhere. (West Marine, Cabelas, etc.) I don’t know about finding smoke colored lenses and reflectors though…is that even legal?

My thoughts exactly! Red is used for a reason, to be easily seen, both as a light and a reflector (the lens in the light is reflective when not lit up).

I have to ask, why would you not want to be seen?

I have put extra reflective tape on both my trailer and the skeg of my motor. I’d rather look “uncool” than deal with an accident that happened because somebody didn’t see my boat or motor.

First, congrats on the new boat! Not sure of your location but that would not be legal in MN. Two red reflectors at the rear of the trailer are required. You can get away with smoked lenses on the tail lights themselves as long as the LED bulbs inside are red, obviously.

    +1

If someone is spending money for “smoke-colored lenses” on their boat trailer…I’ve got a great place they can donate those funds that is far more useful. I’ll PM my address.

So it seems I should be more clear when posting…
First of all, I’m not looking to jeopardize safety, nor become more elusive in the name of “looking cool”. I did say get rid of red reflectors, when I should have said replace the red with a smoke colored reflector that too reflects light, which I ended up finding at etrailer.
Secondly, as far as legalities are concerned, the law states that the lights must emit red light, and reflectors must be in place; however, it does not specify the color of the lens. That being said, I hope no “lawyers” chime in and correct me even further.
Finally, if someone has a tough time seeing a rig that is almost 50′ in total length with, and count them, 17 lights total, regardless of lens color, they need their license jerked.
So… anybody know where I can find the new style “glo light” that’s on the ez loader trailers in a smoked lens?
