Need ur thoughts, is a 2019 Skeeter 2200 under powered with a 2009 Yamaha offshore 250 HP MOTOR. MOTOR HAS 250 Hrs.

A 250 SHO to a 300, is only about a 25 HP difference if you were to see the dyno charts. The 250 SHO is apx 265hp, and the 300 is high 280’s. As to the 250 offshore, not sure, but don’t think it is as strong as the 250 SHO, could be wrong on the newer ones. I think the 250 offshore was 87 octane vs 250 SHO’s 89 octane, and listed a slightly lower rpm range for the offshore. Might want to ask the boat center to know the real deal on that motor. That 250 is an odd motor for the 2200’s given that their packages come with a 300. Sound’s like a guide boat with those hours.

Why would a motor be 10 years older then the hull? If you said a 2009 hull had been re-powered with a 2019 motor I could understand.

    Sorry to derail the thread.

My guess is cracked hull. Boat was replaced, nothing else

Was told Skeeter tests the boats and pulls motors off and sells boats. Sells with new warranty on boat from dealer in Texas. They just had this motor to put on it. Buddy is looking at it but may be sold allready

I guess I missed that part on the age of the motor. Doesn’t sound like a test boat to me, would be a lot of trouble to mount everything, then take it all off. Cheaper and more profitable to just sell the boat as a demo. My guess would be a returned hull.

Those are typically the first prototype on the new model built and go through “vigourous” testing. To my knowledge there has been zero hull failure on the 2200.
The 250 could be propped to make it work….

There is your answer on the hull. I would guess a 2-4 mph reduction with that engine, and would probably perform perfectly fine, as long as it is correctly propped. If its a Yamaha prop, probably a 18 or 19 inch, and more than likely a 18 inch.
