This was somewhat addressed in another post so sorry-do I have to switch my transducer to the starboard side? Would like my Bird installed right who does this kind of work? W/O breaking the bank.
    Thanks

I think it’s more of a suggestion than a hard rule, likely to limit the possibility of added customer support?

Can it really have that big of impact at typical scanning speeds of 5 mph or less? I guess nefarious turbulence might depend on the hull and distance from prop to ducer?

Have you used your Hbird setup on the port side? Sorry for the ???.

Sorry little snarky on that last one, had a taxing day at work read that link that Ron so nicely posted and i thought my head was going to explode! Not a tech savy guy. Just wanna know port or starboard or does not matter too much (best answer BTW) Already think my “bird is too complicated-would like it to be more like my Vex.

Ron put out some good info there, but IMO, they need to do that to sell a product. I read your previous post and thought it was pretty funny! neutral

What model Bird do you have? Have you used it? If not, try using it as-is maybe? I have my Bird SI starboard, DI port. Both work awesome using the brackets that came in the box.

Never mind the model ?, I forgot it’s an SI doah

Are you having problems with it? If you’re in the metro area, I’d be happy to take you out in my boat and give you a rundown on using it. I’ve been running an SI for 10years.

I have a 899 ci hd si-I have had the unit for about a year and sent it back recently and their was something wrong with it. I’m getting better at using it but still feel it is not showing me what it should. Would love to go out and get some pointers from you. So am ok with Si port side? I have one ducer for everything. Thanks for your help.

My opinion is that it doesn’t make any difference whether it’s port or starboard, but the side that shoots through the motor side will always be compromised because of the turbulence off the keel.

I have a ranger so I mount mine in the middle. No issues inadvertantly reading the motor.
