Will having trim tabs significantly affect side imaging capability? Does it matter which side of the tab the transducer is mounted on?

As long as your side imaging transducer is mounted lower than the trim you should be OK. Just from looking at the photo, I’d guess the transducer will have to be mounted on the inside.

    Personally I’d use two transducers.
I’d put them inside of the trim tabs so the ducer sees under the tab.

I ran trim tabs and SI on my previous boat.
The SI ducer was mounted up on the transom below the motor mount, which put it near level with the trim tabs at the outside of the edge of the transom. There was still no conflict with the trim tabs and my side images were clear.
The SI signal doesn’t go strait sideways, it’s still a slight angle down, so as long as your SI transducer is level with tabs or lower you should be just fine.
